So how many out there are having fun with Wii?

I've got 13 games, from Hannah Montana to Metroid, and more Virtual Console downloads than I care to admit (just got my first WiiWare title, Dr. Mario RX, too).

Who else is playing? Anyone else playing Mario Kart Wii or Super Smash Bros. Melee online? Would love to exchange codes (by PM) of anyone else who is playing - need more of an excuse to play online. ;)

The boys have one & I'm politicking for Wii Fit. Mostly I just mess with our avatars, totally enjoy the Wii parade, and news headlines from all over. First video game console that I've ever had the slightest interest in playing... (Guess I'm just an old fart... :rotfl2: )

We just got our last weekend (along with our PS3). I've downloaded most of the old Nintendo games I had (yes, we still have an original Nintendo, and it works, albeit with the standard blowing into the cartridge bit) and Chip has been playing some gamecube games on it.

He also has Zelda for the Wii. Otherwise not a lot of games yet.

Oh we love our wii. I have been using wii fit since release date. I went and bought it the day it came out and so far I have lost 10 lbs! YAAY Wii FIT!
Wii yoga is hard, but for the first time in my life I like step aerobics.

DH and DS play super smash brothers and mario kart wii. I have not really done much except make the little people and wii fit. Oh and beat zelda again and play mario kart 64 and super mario brothers. We love wii points! YAAY wii downloads!

Wii just got back from a friends house. She has Rock Band.. it is seriously addictive.

I've got tons of games for it...from Mario Kart to Wii Fit. I love Mario Kart, I've got all the boards beat, but I have to go back and win 1st place on them all to get all the characters...and on Wii Fit I've had it for about a month and I've lost a little under 5 pounds, but I'm not doing it everyday, I'm letting my body recover! LOL.
I love the Tiger Woods Golf, that's just plain addicting and makes me think I can take on Tiger! LOL. They also have Bomberman Land, which is fun, not too addictive, but just plain fun! LOL.

!

Me too! I tell my girlfriend everyday that I am dancing with her dad! (His Mii is always right next to mine! HA HA)

Last night we had people over and by 10pm we all ended up playing Rockband. I have starwars legos (I am not great) Bully ( I really am not great) Mario cart (reminds me of college) some other sports things, a racing game and both Guitar Heroes. Oh how could I forget WII SKI !!! Now that one I like a lot!

If you have 2 of these in your house is that a Wii-Wii? :)

I love Mario Kart Wii, I have loved Mario Kart back from the super nintendo days, I will send you my code when I get home and look it up Wally!

I haven't been playing much though lately, been wedding obsessed.

I'm waiting for a Hi-Def Wii to come out before I get one. Sounds like it will happen latter this year. Standard Def burns my eyes. I can't watch it anymore.

That being said - anyone have a Nintendo DS? Love mine. It's alot of fun and pretty easy to Modify (hack). It's practically a little portable media device now.

The games really don't lend themselves currently to a HD format, they really don't need it. You can buy the nice component cables though and run it at 480P which does help clean up the images a bit.

For reference we have a 42" Plasma.

Yeah, there will be no "new Wii" anytime soon, however, as you said, you can use component cables right now and see a huge difference - I even see a difference when using them on an SDTV.

Almost all first-party Wii games (and many 3rd party) also support 480p and look awesome in widescreen. Zelda, Super Paper Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros - all look amazing.

I don't know how anyone could look at a game like Super Mario Galaxy in widescreen and think it hurts the eyes, LOL. ;)

I've had my Wii for over a year and I looove it!
I just got Rock Band last week, haha. It's so fun!!

It looks just fine on my husbands 50some in LCD tv. Clear as can be.

Like others said you need other cables...

Dang - I heard wrong about the new wii. And I didn't mean to Dis the Wii just standard Def in general... :happytv:

It's fuuny how no matter how advance the other games get - there's nothing as good to me as good super mario or another take on metroid.

I've had my Wii for over a year now. I manage to get a new game about once every two months. The last one was Rock Band which was expensive, so I am holding out for a bit yet.

I have to admit, of all of the games I have, I keep coming back to Cooking Mama Cook Off. I know it is juvenile and deranged, but I can sit there for hours and chop vegetables and peel shrimp.

Its a sickness.

Hehe, you Wii-hater you :P just kidding! :)

Yeah, although you never know (the redesigned the DS a year and a half after it was released), the current thought in the Nintendo community is that there will not be a "new" Wii for a long while, mainly because they STILL (a year and a half after release) can't keep the thing stocked in stores. Sure, occasionally you'll find a couple on the shelf at Wal-Mart, but they never last very long and they still go for above retail on eBay, which is crazy after it's been out this long. If a "new" Wii comes, it may have more storage (512MB is hard, even with the tiny virtual console games) and DVD playback, but other than that it's pretty certain the Wii will remain the same for a long time to come. (Note: for those having storage issues, supposedly Nintendo is going to have a "solution" at E3 next week - crossing my fingers!)

The thing about Wii graphics is that they aren't going for the photorealistic look that XBOX and PS3 are - seriously, check out Metroid Prime or Super Mario Galaxy on an HDTV with component cables - it's just stunning. The only real problem the Wii has is with antialiasing, the 1st party (Nintendo made) games don't have an issue with it, but the 3rd party games do sometimes. Lack of antialiasing (for those following the discussion but who may not know) is the "jaggy" lines that appear around objects sometimes, and when properly antialiased they are smoother in appearance.

If we see a "new" Wii anytime this generation, my guess is it will have some sort of additional hardware anti-aliasing that can be applied to existing games. For the cartoonish-animated (cel-shaded) style of many Wii games, though, it's really the ultimate experience - I don't have an HDTV yet myself, but there are a couple of games (notably Zelda) that I own but am waiting to fully experience in widescreen glory - the only 1st party Nintendo game I am aware of that doesn't support 480p is Mario Party 8 - the rest I can't wait to replay again with so much more screen to work with. :)

I just got a Wii today and I am already addicted. I am in love with We Ski using the balance board.. it is as close as I can get to downhill skiing in July. My DD and I were fighting over the balance games and yoga on the Wii fit. I think we are going to love it. I didn't have any intrest in any video game until I heard about the balance board and playing games with it. It is everything I hoped for. Can't wait to figure the whole system out.

Welcome to WiiWorld, LOL.

There is so much Balance Board software coming, WiiFit itself is more of a sampling - a full ski game is coming out later this summer, for instance, and rumor is that at E3 this week a new version of Punch Out (without the "Mike Tyson" part LOL) will use both the Balance Board and the Wii Remote/Nunchuck to fully simulate the boxing experience.

Nintendo's big E3 conference is on Tuesday at 9AM PST - this is the site I generally check for Wii news because it's updated so frequently.
