Wii console was glowing blue - no disk inside - help?!

Hi, My dd noticed that while on standby this a.m., (the wii is plugged in, but not powered on) it started glowing blue - where you put the games in. There is no game in it - and it's working fine (had dd try to put a game on and play).. any idea why it would start glowing like that all of a sudden??? As you can see - i don't know much about this.

There is a phone number on it or in the book for help...they are great! Give the company a call and they will tell you what to do!

Ours is glowing too! I don't think that this is the first time that it has done that though.

I'm leaving it alone!

Your Wii is calling the mother ship.

But seriously, it just means there is a message. You can turn off the blue light option by changing your settings.

"The Wii Optical Drive will glow a neon-blue color when data has been received through WiiConnect24 in Standby Connect mode and, with firmware 3.0 and above, it will briefly flash when the console is turned on. The brightness level of this blue color can be changed via the Setup Interface with the options of Bright, Dim or Off. "

Aliens are good at erasing memories. If you can't remember that aliens have visited, then it means they probably have visited but wiped your brain clean. Too bad they slipped up this time and left the glowing light as a clue.

You know, around midnight last night, ours was doing the same thing. I typically wouldn't notice it, but I was reading with only one lamp on and the TV was off, so the flashing blue caught my eye.

I figured it just had a disc left in (since the kids typically forget to take it out) so I checked, yup, took the disc out and the flashing went away.

Now I'm wondering if we have some type of wii message, too!

Another glowing blue last night. I went downstairs to get some water and noticed the blue light. I turned the power button off and went upstairs. Later on, I went back downstairs for something and saw the blue light glowing again. Freaky! I turned it off again and went back upstairs. I haven't checked it yet today, but now I'm glad to know what the cause is!

Ours was glowing this am too so it must be a general message, I will check when I get home.

You know we've had our Wii for over 3 years and I have never known why it glowed blue sometimes, I always figured it was me switching it off incorrectly sometimes or something like that. You can always learn something on the DIS!
