Hi all. We are local and heading to food & wine in 8 hours. Wife just fell in driveway and busted up her foot. Don’t think it’s broken, but painful to walk.

Researched and found limited wheelchairs available at Epcot but no reservations.
Any thoughts or ideas on such short notice??
Money not a concern.

Thanks!!

Call Gold Mobility (rental vendor) in Orlando, see what they can deliver to y'all. They have the best reputation of any vendor around here.

You likely don't have a handicap tag, however let the CM know you need to pick up a complimentary wheelchair for your wife and then you will park in regular parking.

There is a wheelchair return (looks like a grocery cart corral) on the sidewalk near the HA parking and EV charging. Double park, get her into a wheelchair, park in regular parking and come back and wheel her in. ECV rentals are at the front left as you go in. You can ask for a complimentary wheelchair to get her back to your parking spot when you leave.

Keep your receipt just in case you need to leave and come back and ask to *save* the ECV for later. You can use the receipt at any park and DS but will be subject to whatever wait is happening.

I hope she is okay. An ECV will make your lives much easier. Good luck today!

Also, if you tell the parking lot attendant when you check into the parking lot they might let you park in the handicapped overflow area. We were able to do this in the past when we forgot our handicapped plaque at home.

So sorry this happened to your wife. you are so sweet to be looking after her, her heath and her comfort. Hopefully she has a boot to immobilize her foot. I broke a toe a couple weeks before a cruise. Taking it easy the first bit of time seemed to help me heal quickly so I think an ECV is the way to go. That should allow you to enjoy WDW while letting the foot heal.

if you end up directed to the medical overflow lot, don’t park in any spots with blue paint lines. Those are part of the designated, marked handicapped parking that butts up against the overflow lot. Those are official handicapped spots and guests parking in those without a handicapped parking permit can get ticketed.

There is no guarantee that there will be any wheelchairs in the courtesy wheelchair corrals in the parking lot. They often go more quickly than CMs can replace them.

Good luck and hope your day still turns out well

You are local and only need the chair for a few hours -- check with your local church for loaners or if you know anyone in a civic organization such as the Lion's Club, Kiwanis, etc. They often have loaner wheelchairs available. If you decide to rent from Epcot, wheelchairs are less likely to run out than ECVs. Gold Mobility was suggested above but they only rent for a full week -- it would be cheaper to run to your local drug store and buy a manual wheelchair than rent from Gold, unless they take pity and agree to a 1-day rental. You may be able to get a 1-day local rental from one of the other vendors - try Buena Vista Scooters, Walkers, Randy's...
