Camping Christy's hubby, Brad is Goofy, Surferrat and Stacktester were doing our Trails End photo tonight and who do I run into but my uncle who I was just talking about bringing me on my 1st trip to the fort in 1980. He is my real dad's brother who even though we don't see each other a lot even though we live about 10 miles apart. My real dad's best friend accidentally shot and killed him when I was 6 months old so he was kinda my link to that side of the family. He brought me here a couple more times thru the years. It was just a wierd thing because I was just telling Surferrat (Ray) about my visits years and years ago. He's over in the 1800 loop so we're going to try and hook up tomorrow for lunch and chit chat. We may do Epcot for EMH tomorrow night but I hope not lol.

I hope you have a good time. It may do you both good to spend a little time catching up!!!

WOW,,talk about the Disney Magic,,sounds like a little took place at the Fort.Isn't it fun when you see someone you never expected at the Fort ! Last trip to the Fort we ran into a friend from our own town at the Fort,,never knew they were coming....:thumbsup2 ..enjoy catching up with him...Mr.:goofy:

Thats really cool that you guys bumped into eachother, at such an "odd" place..LOL Something similar happened to us a while back. I had just had my daughter and my husband was out to sea for a few months, so I decided to fly down to Florida to visit family in Ocala. We decided to go to Tarpon Springs for the day and we ran into my husbands best friends parents.....from New Hampshire! They saw us first and ran over screaming....OMG.... and the baby....OMG....it was hysterical. Although, hubbys best friend was mad, because his parents got to see my daughter before HE did!!!!!

Amazing! I love moments like those...kismet! Who says magic doesn't happen?!

Ok...If Im reading this right, this HAS to be a very sensitive subject, so I WILL NOT MAKE A JOKE HERE......Your Dads best friend accidentally shot him(him =your dad???) when you were 6 months old? Oh my GOD! Am I correct? Or am I reading this incorrectly? Thats such an incredibly shocking little tid-bit of information!!! And you mentioned it so casually...am I the only one who gasped when they read that?? I've typed 20 sentences or more and erased them all because I just dont know what to say!!! Thats AMAZING...I dont mean "AMAZING" in the good and excited kind of way...but like Im truelly amazed. Man...I should probably erase that too because it aint what I mean either. Donnie....you're a hell of an interesting guy! And THAT I DO mean in a good way.

No, you're not the only one to gasp. Just the only one with words to say. I admire that by the way. How many things get ignored because people don't have the courage or the words to speak up? Donnie, this is a "tid-bit" that has no doubt shaped you into who you are today. A struggle in your life, but a blessing you have become, especially to Annie.

Well since I was only 6 months old it's kinda hard to understand because I never knew him. My dad was showing his buddy (his friend shot my dad, not my dad shooting his friend) the gun and it went off by accident. Happened as my mom was walking up unfortunately. I guess you could look at it badly but remember the grand dad I mentioned going to the Braves training camp with last month? That's my moms dad and he and my grandmom pretty much raisesd me so it turned out ok.

It was still pretty wild to see him here though since I had just been talking about him earlier in the day.

No BDR, you're not the only one who gasped. Mine was followed by a "Holy S..."! That is so terrible. I hope Stacktester and his uncle have a long talk to get caught up on things. I'm sure it can/will be uncomfortable, but reading what I have from him in the short time I've been here, I'm sure he'll come through this.

I very much agree.......

Wow, weird situation..... maybe there is magic at Disney. When I read the title, I thought it was about those old ladies you pushed around on the boat because they wouldn't give you their seat..... Enjoy the rest of your trip.

I read that really late last night and had the same reaction as the others. For the first time in a good long while I am a loss for words. Maybe thats why you have the giving nature that you do, the keen understanding of the importance of family and friends.

I agree as well....

I actually had to read that a few times to make sure I was understanding it correctly.

I was thinking the same thing!

The world really is a small place. Hope you and your uncle have a good visit today.

Here's hoping all goes well with your visit with your uncle and that you get to learn more about your father. I was probably as shocked as everyone else to hear that about your past, glad to hear that someone stepped up and took over for your Dad. As you know, it's not easy being a parent, but it's the most rewarding career that there is.

Jerry, I think the phrase you were looking for is "It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small small world."

No everybody will have that stuck in their head all day... .You are welcome :lmao:
