Wierd Acne treatment- Milk of Magnesia??

Thanks for this. My DD13 has been having terrible break-outs but we arent allowed to talk about them, so shes been dealing with this on her own. Ive tried to approach in a im not criticizing you way privately but she still doesnt like to discuss it. I will get her a bottle and just mention in passing that I had heard how nice it works on the skin and I wanted to try it out and see if she takes the hint.

Has anyone tried it yet? I'm curious to find out if it's working for anyone else. So far so good for me! I've never, ever had good skin before, and I think I might be on my way there!!

so far so good here!:thumbsup2

That's wild!! As a teenager, I used to put toothpaste on zits to dry them up!! Never would have thought of MOM! I'm going to pass this along to a friend of mine who struggles with acne, even in her 30's!

Yes- that stuff is a HG for a lot of acne prone skin. My skin is dry but very break out prone. I've used this for about 2 years. It's too much to apply all over my face but I'm getting a zit, I just apply a few coats on the zit specifically and then go to bed. Originally after 6 months, it just stopped working, apparently my skin just started tolerating it. I just used a different product & after a few months returned to this and it started working again. :goodvibes

Cool. I'll have to get some for my son. He's been on antibiotics for his acne for years, but still has a terrible problem with it. ProActive doesn't work for him either.

Ok, I bought it and tried it last night. It felt incredibly sticky on my skin, and my face stuck to the pillowcase, but when I woke up this morning, my face looked better. Is anyone else having a problem with the stickiness?

I've heard this works well. And what point do you use moisturizer, before or after the MOM.

I don't use moisturizer; just a make-up primer like Bare Minerals Skin Rev-er Upper.

To the poster complaining of stickiness - make sure you're not putting the MOM on too thick. It only takes a thin layer. Mine usually dries within a minute.

I use a round makeup sponge to apply. I was using cotton squares, but had a real problem with the cotton coming apart while I applied the MOM and sticking to my face.

I told my DS what it was really made for and he kept saying, "well, it's going to cure my pimples, but I'm going to poop a lot." I had to laugh at him and explain that he'd have to drink it for that to happen. He was happier for that bit of news.

The kids started using it last night and DD's skin looked a little better this morning. We'll keep using it. The kids looked so cute going to bed with their little white masks. :rotfl:

I'm going to try it for breakouts. I've been using it for deodorant for a few years now. The best! Wanted to get away from the aluminum in the deodorants, was thrilled when MOM actually worked.

ok...I bought it tonight from CVS b/c I figured I wouldn't see anyone I know there! I am so shy about these things!! I had a whole story planned about my husband needing it!!!:lmao:

I can't wait till I start using it!

Years ago when I was first a nurse we used to use it on people with bedsores and frankly, it worked pretty well to heal the skin.

How do you apply it as a deodorant? How long does it take to dry? Does it only act as a deodorant or is it an antiperspirant as well?

Ok bought the generic mom 2 days ago and told dd13 what to do. She has been applying it for 2 nights in a row and I kid you not her face has completely cleared up and looks the best ive seen it. She totally cracks up though when its on because she says she looks like a clown but this really works. In fact, I had 2 very large pimples on my chin this morning and I put on mom and left it on all day and now they are very tiny barely noticeable. Thanks op.

I just apply it with a cotton round. Takes less then a minute to dry, and it acts more as an antiperspirant - slightly as a deodorant. My 'areas north' don't hurt near as much as they used to. That aluminum really does mess with your body...well, it did mine at least.

OK!! I just put it on! and watched it dry-:rotfl:

Hmmm.. this is very valuable info.

I have partially oily/dry skin. Stupid T-Zone. Should I just not put it on the dry part, I guess?

Probably. That would be my opinion.

You can also do a very thin coat under foundation (if you wear any) and it will help control the oil.
