Widow sues Disney

I think the point being made is that if the wife was that concerned about his safety, she could have sought help in dealing with him. It is just hard to stomach the wife's argument when she says he had obviously had too much to drink and the security guard should have called for help on his radio rather than walking away momentarily to get help (because the man so obviously should not have been left alone) and yet she left him alone, and went back to their room at another resort, without notifying anyone that there was a problem. If it should have been so obvious to the security guard that he needed to be supervised for his own safety, why did the wife simply leave him alone at the GF, and return to the Poly., without notifying anyone at that time?

I don't think that people are really trying to blame the wife, just making the point that she did exactly what she is blaming others for doing.
Well said, Shannon G! :teeth:

I hate "taking coals to Newcastle" (my step-dad's phrase).....

But if the wife observed that her spouse was drunk, wouldn't she have mentioned it to their server? (He's had too much... don't bring any more to the table.)
It could be that she feels a sense of guilt also, and is looking for an outside entity to "take the fall".

Just a thought..........

I really hope that Disney fights this one. The concept that everyone else is responsible for his behavior is just plain wrong. Look, I'm a recovering alcoholic, and I've spent more than my fair share of evenings trashed out of my mind and in situations that could very easily have ended my life. However, alcoholic or not, no one ever put a gun to my head and forced me to take a drink. That was my choice, and the repercussions from it are mine to bear, no one elses. I feel terribly sorry that this woman lost her husband, but lawsuits like this need to stop.

I agree with the majority here.

What happened to the days where it was so hard to sue Disney in Florida because just about all of the lawyers in Florida had done work for them at some point in time-- thus creating conflict of interest or such?

And the stupid train keeps rolling on....or what can we sue for next?

*disclaimer...even I can see the sarcasm in me tonight...longest 3 1/2 day work week I ever had...I'll be better tomorrow...promise*

I totally agree with Deb. I think it is about $$.

I hope Pete is right because I think what this lady is doing (& her lawyer) is wrong. At some point we need to start taking responsibility for our actions.
