I keep hearing about this and have NO clue what anyone is talking about. Can someone please explain? :confused3 We're going to be in DCA at the end of Sept, staying off site with no early entry and I don't want to miss this ride :worried:. Thank you

It means if you are at rope drop for cars, stay to your right. Red comes down the left and blocks up that side.

Did it this morning- worked like a charm!

It's a technique (the name coined by a DISer) of how/where to position yourself at rope drop to end up near the front of the pack to ride RSR.

Big thread here with testimonials.

YMMV, but it works better if you are willing to be a bit aggressive and don't have to stop to ditch a stroller.

Just want to clarify... this is for the 8am general population rope drop correct? Not the EMH for on-site hotel guests.

Is the rope set up just outside carsland?

No. Wide-Right is for...
-EMH guests on EMH days
-Everyone on non-EMH days

Wide-Right does not do you much good if you are a regular guest entering on an EMH day because there will already be a line of 45+ min from EMH.

The rope is set up just outside the Carthay Circle Theater. Then they walk it from there all the way down the main Cars Land road to RSR.

If you position yourself to the right near the front of the rope drop, how useful is this strategy if you are not willing to be "a bit aggressive"?

It will still put you in a good position but from experience you really need to be aggressive. People try and "push" their way over once they say everyone needs to move to the right. I had a kid and his dad try and cut in front of us. We spread the WHOLE family(6) of us out so they couldn't.

You will still be in front of a very large proportion of the crowd, but not in the first few cars. During a fairly-busy EMH in March, we did wide-right without being aggressive. We were off the ride before 8:20 that day and managed Luigi's, Mater's, and two rides on Screamin' before the park officially opened.

This ^. We are non aggressive and it worked fine for us last week. A few more people in front of me is no big deal. We were still on it very quickly..less than 10 minutes.

We're out of luck then. We only have 2 days and both are EMH. :(

JMHO but don't dwell too much on the whole "wide right" technique.

It is over-rated and used mainly by those "aggressive" folks who, for some reason or another, need to be THE first ones on the ride. You will get a chance to enjoy this attraction; just be patient.

Enjoy the park, the scenery, the time with your family/kids weather it be waiting in line or on a ride....who cares....you're at Disneyland!

I wouldn't consider yourself "out of luck"......just think about those who are stuck at work while you are at the parks.....who's the "lucky one" now????

Enjoy!

I would suggest fast passes. Get there about 30 minutes before park opening (at the gates) then go get in line for the FP. They don't start distribution until regular park opening

And of course, single rider is amazing, if you are able to do that (no small kids).

First thing in the morning, they can't even get enough single riders, the cars go out onto the track not filled up. So the single rider is not just a walk on, it is a run on. :thumbsup2
