Wide Angle Bucket List

I have a trip coming up in May where I am taking my first true wide angle lens. I am forming a list of things to photograph in each park. Epcot is pretty easy to do but am having a hard time trying to think of things in MK. Seems a lot harder to do with all the crowds. But are there any little nooks that you have found out of the way in the MK that would be perfect for wide angle you wouldn't mind sharing.

I agree that my UWA (11-16mm) seems to like Epcot better but there are a few places at MK that may benefit from a wideangle lens:

Don't forget on rides and in the queue.
These are all 16mm on a full frame (about 11mm on a crop (APS) sensor camera)

You don't need an ultra wide angle for fireworks, unless you are in the hub or closer to the castle.

There are literally thousands of ultra wide angle shots to be captured in each of the parks. If you're thinking from the perspective of "needing" a wider lens to cram more into the frame, you're going about it the wrong way. Be creative and you'll open up tons of uses for the UWA.

Sums it up perfectly.

You don't really "need" a wideangle lens when you go to the parks but having one expands your creative boundaries.

I used the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. Most of the shots are HDR except the fireworks.

Yes, the lens made for crop (APS) cameras. But it can be used on a full frame without vignetting at ~15-16mm.

As others have said, UWA lenses are not supposed to be used to fit more things in the frame. If anything, get up very close to the subject and use the distortion of the lens creatively.

I also have the Tokina 11-16 which I bought for last year's trip (thinking rather than rent it I would buy and sell after - and still have it!)

I really struggled the first week we were there feeling compelled to use it but looking for 'appropriate shots'

I then adopted a lens per day challenge and did one of our MNSSHP nights with ONLY the wide angle. I took my favorite character/parade photos with that lens that night. There were some where the characters leaned so close to me that I would have lost the shot if I'd had any other lens on that night. Not at all what would have been suggested in a list of options for a UWA but worked out great for me

Many thanks all. Very inspiring. I can not wait to try Wide Angle. Python, I assume the river of americas was at dusk. In the EXIF info it says your exposure was 13. Even at Dusk that would seem like it should have been mega over exposed. I am a sports photo guy during the day so all my speeds are 1/400- 1/750. So long exposure experience is new to me. But that is an awesome shot.

A Neutral Density filter will help give a longer exposure without blowing out the highlights as quickly. Not sure if Allen used one for this shot. It's a beauty though
