Wicked Wind Down - Are we really not discussing this?

I have said it before (and maybe even in this thread) but I’ve done a few of these booze-included things as a sober person. Each time, I was part of a larger group in which most of the others were both of age and comfortable with a glass of something or other. In that case, I don’t mind paying full freight, because what I’m really paying for isn’t enough food/drink to “get my money’s worth.” What I am paying for is a nice evening with friends and family.

Some of them have been so much fun I would do them again in a heartbeat. Savor the Savannah is the most recent example.

I might feel differently if the majority of my group abstained, but I’m not in that situation so….who knows?

Of course! I still like to say sorry! I wish I had a dollar for every time I do! LOL
I do the same and its a habit I am really trying to break myself from in my old age!! The other day I had two people try to change an appointment that I had worked hard to book around for them in the first place and I typed out “I’m sorry I can’t make that work” and then I backed the I‘m sorry out and just sent I can’t make that work. I was proud of myself LOL

This is me, 100%. My family and friends will still enjoy an adult beverage when they're with me, but it's only as part of the greater experience, and the rest we all share.

In our party none of us drink. I will have a glass of wine occasionally but don’t normally. So in this situation it just feels like a huge waste of money. I guess since we are 3 essentially non drinking adults and my husband is diabetic (so no desserts either) its just not something we chose to spend money on. Its a common issue but always so interesting with all the kids involved that Disney does these alcohol included events.

I think the answer is a BLT contract so I can get my own fireworks view and eat and drink what we want! Yes, that is going to have to be the plan!

So this place used to be free to visit for all DVC members or just direct DVC? No longer free to anyone now?

Used to be free for all DVC-direct and resale. Now it is Direct (or ”member extras”) only, staying on property (there is a debate about if it has to be on points) and its first come, first serve OR a reservation of $55 a person.

So they took it away from the resale owners that no longer qualify for a blue card?

Yes. They added it as part of membership extras. DVD is now running it now…which means paying something to Disney from their own budget

Before the closure , it was run by Disney who took on all profit and loss and why they wanted it open to more people.

So its like the Epcot lounge that is paid for by DVD as a way to market direct buys.

Still free for members who qualify for member extras (direct points buyers and some earlier resale buyers). The $55 package is optional.
I may have received incorrect information but two DVC representatives told me walk ups are not allowed if all seats are reserved. And it is not optional as they are booked solid until August 7. I hope they are wrong

So now toy wonder if they will allow walk ups who just want to watch fireworks and show up right before?

Or allow walk ups after people with reservations leave?

I will be their the 20th and most likely leave by 10 pm. Maybe once I do my table opens for a walk up??

I’m surprised I can’t find anything about this event last night, I would think that somebody went… Even if it was a blogger.

So I just want to clarify... if I don't want to pay the $55 to get in we won't have access regardless? I don't mind paying $55 for an app, drink and guaranteed table but I'm on property now and just wanted to make sure. Lol

I'm feeling dumb with my question but I think I'm also confusing myself..so I've got the perfect storm going on! HA! :lmao:

We're coming in mid-October so as of right now there is no "schedule" set for us to sign up for the $55/pp Wicked Wind Down but they're supposed to come up with a schedule past the mid-August dates, right?

THEN I have to call DVC to book my reservation and then I have to check in at TOTWL sometime earlier than 30 minutes before the fireworks start - which in mid-October we don't know when they'll start yet...and then I can stay as long as I want and enjoy the drink, app and dessert??

DH and I are staying at BLT and when I told him that TOTWL was opening back up he told me to "make it happen"! :thumbsup2

and as a good wife, I always listen to my DH... :lmao:

PHEW - this trip is "starting" to cost me an arm and a leg! We're doing 2 nights of the MNSSHP, the African Trek tour and now this evil lair....good thing I'm fond of DH!

I was told that there would still be FCFS option while this event was happening. Others were told no, once this is sold out as a special event, then there would be no walk ups.

We have not yet gotten any reports back from anyone who has tried who did not purchase this.

So, at this points, we really don’t know yet. It has been reported that it’s sold out through Aug 7th. Since you are on property, you would have to try and see what happens. If you do, please report back!
