I think the confusion is going to lie in the membership composition. I have one membership, one prime contract # 1234567. My direct contracts are .001, .002, and .004. My resale contracts are .003, .005 and .006.

One membership, one prime contract, and a mixtures of direct and resale depending on the suffix.

I think there is already a post that they were allowed to book this event when the reservation using both direct and resale points since it was an eligible membership.

So, that question seems to be answered.

Good. I mean it all made sense to me, and if you simply read the details on the Membership Magic page, it seems pretty clear, but add in the usual MS cast members who "didn't get the memo", plus a few owners who don't understand what they've read or been told (and sprinkled with the usual Disney confusion), and you're left to question what seemed perfectly clear and unambiguous.

And the sad thing is that what you're describing is just trying to figure out going to a lounge for snack, a drink, and fireworks. Should it really be this complicated? Just sayin'......

We have three contracts, but only one is direct. We have an upcoming stay (booked on one of our resale contract points) and were able to book the event for the Wicked Wind Down. They said you only had to be an eligible direct member and be staying on your points (but didn’t have to be your direct points) to qualify.

Tthats the way I understood it after reading the policy on the TOTW site. Sounds like they understand their policy for now.

I can appreciate your point.

For us, we've always found value in the experience, the ambience, and just being in the moment. That's why our family continues our engagement with WDW. Heck, a family can pull up seats on the sofa at home, bucket of popcorn in hand, and pretty much see everything there is to see at WDW on YouTube. But it isn't the same. Not to sound preachy or idealistic, but its about the sights, sounds, and feel, the chit chat with your family, cm's and other guests, and just enjoying being in the bubble that makes it special.

I hope they still offer these opportunities for September. We are all over it, if they do.

I think this will turn into, if it continues, as one of things people do not do all the time or only want to go up to see fireworks and not spend that much time in the lounge.

As I shared, we decided to have it replace a different TS meal we were doing. My guests have never been up there and think It is a unique experience.

I have gone before it closed to spend time with our group, no seats, and so we left. It will be nice to know when we arrive at 7:30 pm we won’t need to worry.

But, if I go by myself or with guests who have already done it, then we will do the whole FCFS option close to fireworks.

I've been up there before. Sat with family and had drinks so I get it. I also understand what and why this is being packaged this way. It's a smart marketing ploy. Take something that was previously free and add a charge for it. The percieved value goes up and many people rush to experience this new, exclusive event. I know from my own experience that in the past many who went up and occupied seats in the lounge spent 0$. Now every seat produces income.

I don't see anything wrong with it from Disney's side or those who choose to attend.
There are lots of other lounges for me to visit and relax

Same here! Hoping they extend it into September so we can experience it as well.

I'm 58 years old, and haven't played organized baseball since college. Last week, some friends called and said "hey, we're gonna go to Home Run Park Saturday and hit in the cages. Went yesterday, spent $40 between tokens and a snack bar lunch of a sandwich chips and soda. made terrible contact, pulled about 5 muscles, and loved every second of it. Hurting today, but the $40 was well spent, not for the food or putting the barrel on any balls, but having fun and reliving distant memories with friends.

With the continued practice of charging for what was once free, I wonder what will be next. Pay to make a park reservation, an ADR? I have some tickets in my account that I hope we get to use in 2024, and after that, I will be done for a good while. But I think this change will be good for our family.

I am fine with charging something but maybe they can add standing room for 20.00 and include a drink. I enjoy seeing the fireworks but have no intention of sitting there hours. Enjoy a drink the view the fireworks and leave.

It appears that at 9:00 pm…around 20 minutes prior to fireworks, people were let up to the observation deck and could indeed go in and get a drink from the bar.

Its arriving earlier that has been the issue for those who did not book WWD…they were put on a waitlist as the event sold out all the tables.

Sorry, still confused - DH and I are eligible direct members staying on points and have also booked a room for my sister using our points. Will she be able to come up with us, for either the first come first served or $55 option? Or is she not eligible to join us since she is staying in a separate room? Thanks!
