Wi-Fi upgrades?

Does anyone think 4th fp on the app is coming now that they have just upgraded Wi-Fi in the parks?

I'll be surprised to see that happen. I think using kiosks works as a regulator on the system, keeping those FPs from running out even sooner.

I'm starting to think that, as well. Allow it on phones and people will start booking the fourth FP+ as soon as the enter the queue for their third one. A lot more FP+ will run out before noon as people booking for 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00 start grabbing up extras at 11:01.

Based on the reports on these boards, allowing people to book on their phones would also cause a negative feedback loop. Right now a lot of people who might book a fourth on their phones don't bother hunting down a kiosk and waiting in even a short line, because dealing with the standby lines is not so bad. But the standby lines get worse when more people use FP+, so while booking the fourth is optional in the kiosk system it would become closer to mandatory under the phone system. As it is now, the kiosks make the people who use them happy, and others are happy not to use them. As long as the balance keeps working, they'll keep doing it.

Until they want to cut costs and get rid of the CMs who staff the kiosks.

I don't see how an upgrade to Wi-Fi in the parks would correspond at all with having the ability to select extra FP's from smart phones. So while I think they will eventually make it available, it shouldn't have anything to do with wifi.

However this is the first I'm seeing of upgraded Wi-Fi in the parks and I think it's much needed. When using Wi-Fi in the parks sometimes it seems slow and rarely ever loads the MDE app. So they've been needing to upgrade/update it for awhile now.

They announced MONTHS ago that they had already just upgraded the park Wi-Fi due to AT&T becoming a sponsor.
After that... it was still slow and rarely ever loads the MDE app.

I was there just this January and the WiFi in the parks was slow and spotty (as expected) and the WiFi in our on-site resort room was nearly unusable during times when guests were generally awake (in the middle of the night and very early mornings, it actually allowed connection to real websites, sorta.)

Maybe after this recent upgrade, and the next upgrade, and the next… it might work almost as well as an average McDonalds Restaurant's free WiFi.

How does cellular data work in the parks? Is it better to just turn off the wi-fi and stick to a cellular signal?

The in-park wifi is spotty in some places (especially when you're walking between buildings or to a bus stop).

Plenty of people need to use the wifi: people running out of data on their plans, or foreigners who would otherwise risk expensive roaming charges.
