Why Wouldn't We Fly Out Of Buffalo?

I don't understand. Don't you get an assigned seat when you get your flight ticket. Are you guaranteed a set on the plane??? In Canada when you book I get an assigned seat. :confused3

To put it mildly......."It's A Cattle Call"!

And no, if you book AC Tango Fare, you are not guaranteed a seat! Therefore, you are better to pay the $30.00 extra and go for Tango Plus, which that extra $30.00 is your seat assignment!

For the Extra in savings, well worth it! This October's trip would have been at least $1400.00 for just two on AC!

So far with SW, I've only paid the equivalient of taxes! Plus there is the hopes of getting this lowered with future DINGS!

For Our December trip, which I'm waiting for SW to open, I've already booked a night's stay at Millineum with Parking Included for $99.00. I can't do that in Canada!

Personally, I don't even think this is an issue.
A) you don't have to do online check in to be in the A group. If you arrive at the airport about 1.5 hours(or more) before your flight you will more than likely be in the A group. We are accustomed to being at the airport even earlier than this in Canada so I do the same in the US. Plus it's not worth possibly missing the flight because you didn't show up at the airport until an hour before your flight(as the US carriers say is acceptable).
B)Even in Canada you have to wait until they board your row and then line up anyway.

1.5 hours at the airport will not necessarily get you a "A" pass either. When we flew home from LA in March we got A passes at the 24hour mark, my BIL who was with us checked in a few hours later and got a B.

Another good way to do it is if you have a cell phone with a web browser. You can check in over the phone and print the pass at the airport.

We are doing the SW thing. We are driving to Buffalo.
Our famaily of 4 gets flights for $1200 total!
Plus, they have seniors discounts.
We leave early morning and get to Orlando at 10am. - we still have a whole day to enjoy WDW!

Very helpful thread!
Since we have never flown out of Buffalo before - we will in Oct. --

Can someone please tell me what parking rates are like? Is it cheaper to park at Buffalo airport or at a local airport hotel and use a shuttle to get us to airport? What hotels in Buffalo do you recommend which are not far from airport or some shopping? Nothing too expensive but convenient please.

Any recommendations? We are travelling with 2 seniors and 2 children.

Thanks so much.

The parking rates are quite reasonable at the airport .You can book them online here.
http://www.buffaloairport.com/airport_info/parking_availability.phtml
or
You can try this website for a choice of Park-Sleep-Fly hotels.
http://www.parksleepfly.com/

We've used this website twice and stayed at The Millenium Hotel (15 min shuttle ride).
Its a good rate ($99 I think) for one night ,plus free parking up to 2 weeks and free shuttle to and from airport. It is also only a 5 minute walk to the Walden Galleria Mall.

I did a quick glance at your note ... you said about 2000 from Pearson? I JUST now in the last 5 minutes booked four of us (sitting down?) $822.8 More than worth driving cross the border....
That sounds increadible from Pearson. How many people did this $822.8 include and what carrier/flight did you purchase? Is this the full price including taxes and everything?

That is not from Pearson. Title by OP says that it is from Buffalo and the body of message explains why it is still a good deal even with crossing border, etc.

We are in for late August at $160.00 CDN per person from Buffalo.

Does not matter to me if I am beside my wife or not for the next 2.5 hours if I have an extra $700 in my pocket between the two of us when we get off the plane in Orlando.

Was that a special or did you just phone up and book at that price?

You will not get the Ding or Internet Special fares over the phone,So its better (and easier) to book it through the SWA website.
