Why wouldn't I buy a resale?

The primary point is that I thought it was an interesting coincidence. There are hundreds of contracts available via resale, and the OP happened to be using the one I had for sale as of 6/19 as an example. I accepted an offer on the contract on 6/21 and read this post for the first time on 6/22.

Go ahead and take a quick look at the asking prices for AKV resales at The Timeshare Store. Tell me if an $85-86/point asking price was fair, all factors considered.

Fair for you, yes. A good deal for the OP? Nope. As I posted early in this thread, by my calculations, the person purchasing your contract would have been better off buying direct from Disney unless you dropped your price by another $5 or $6 dollars per point. And even then, that makes you just even with buying the same points from Disney directly. With no advantage to bying from you, I'd have purchased from Disney instead to get the better deal. All factors considered.

Actually, they have been selling AKV and SSR at the 100 point level to new members. I was offered that back in the winter but wanted BLT, so I bought a small VWL resale (to become a member) so I could get BLT for less than the 160 minimum.

In any case, can we at least agree that someone should certainly run the numbers on both resale and direct DVC purchases before making their decision?

Sheesh. I wish the OP would have been shopping on another contract. I would have never gotten involved.
