Why would you buy a small add on via resale?

** Disclaimer*** I bought my initial DVC point contract via resale. I saved some decent $$$ doing resale. I also, highly recommend TTS as they have been great to deal with. That said ...

Why do people buy a small number of add-on points via resale? It seems to me that by the time you spend $90 per point (the number that seems to get people by ROFR sometimes ) plus closing costs for one of the non-SSR DVCs, you could by the same # of points from DVC. (BTW, I know why people who are not members would buy a small # of points -- because they don't want to buy in at DVC's minimum. I get that).

I would love to know why people do this, because I just might give Tom's folks a call.

Can someone help educate me on this?

I think some people have a particular home resort/use year they are looking for and get impatient waiting for it to become available through Disney. Also, sometimes the resale contracts (even the small ones) come with one or two years worth of banked points.

Calypso,

That's it. The banked points! That does make it worth it.
