Actually, since I have this lovely outlet for the "drama" no one has said one word in "real life" to anyone on the team, it wasn't brought up at the tournament, no one talked about it. I had a lovely conversation with this girl about when she leaves for college, what classes she will have freshman year. How much fun it is going up 2 weeks early and having the campus to yourself. See, there is this thing called MATURITY.
This thread may last longer than the girls golf season......

Side note, not sure how relevant, this is the same girl who's mom kept putting up a stink about our DD playing varsity ahead of her for the past 3 years and now this??? Your scores are what they are and our DD is the #1 player on the team and this girl is #6.
The 3 younger kids are already on the radar for most colleges because they have been on the varsity longer then the seniors (this is their first year playing varsity).
maybe, doesn't stop me from chiming in though.
i admit i may be way off base, but i remember the thread regarding varsity athletes being brought up from middle school vs varsity spots being reserved solely for upperclassmen. This family was involved in that dispute, and iirc there were some pretty strong feelings expressed during that mess. I'm also sensing a bit of attitude toward this girl from the op in this thread:
Maybe none of that comes across in person, but maybe it does, and the girl and/or her family has had enough and this is their way of getting back just a bit.
Of course even if that's the case, does it make bailing on the team ok? Not in my opinion, but i can see how it could happen.
So the jv girl shot 100 on day 1, how did the rest of the girls do?
I hope they qualify for the next level of play, even without the partying senior, and i hope jv girl surprises everyone and does better than expected on day 2.![]()
Thanks for more "second hand" information, that is irrelevant to the conversation anyway.

Those are wonderful scores. Kudos to your daughter and the other girls for a good round today. I'm sure your stomach was in knots all day. Best diet I have ever been on was when my daughter played varsity golf last fall...I lost 15 pounds over a 2 months because my stomach was continually in knots ( I was nervous for her because she was the only freshman to play on varsity and though I could feel the weight of the situation I don't know that she fully grasped it!)
Good luck to all of the girls in the next round. Please let us know how they do!
What yardage did they play today by the way?
. DD is a freshman as well but this is her 3rd season playing Varsity so don't get QUITE as nervous any longer.Good luck tomorrow!
FWIW, I admire that the girl came to the tournament today (even if she did complain).
It's wonderful to come this far. I hope the JV girl "wows" everyone. I never thought about using this for weight loss. DD is a freshman as well but this is her 3rd season playing Varsity so don't get QUITE as nervous any longer.

If MN is anything like WI, your DD will only have one more year of Varsity before she becomes ineligible.
In most states, you are only eligible to play varsity for 4 years.
Why the happy huggie smiley for something so negative as becoming ineligible for the varsity team? I'm confused. If MN is anything like WI, your DD will only have one more year of Varsity before she becomes ineligible.

Just a guess, but I would wager that Minnesota does not limit eligibility to four years. Some states limit you to four years of eligibility during grades 9-12, in other words if you repeat a high school year you do not get five years of eligibility. However, students who play varsity while in grades 7 and 8 still get their four years of high school eligibility for grades 9-12. I believe New York has this rule, and I would think that MN has something similar.![]()

Here's an interesting story about when family & sports intertwine.
Javier Hernandez is playing for the Mexican National Soccer Team in the World Cup. His father, also Javier Hernandez, is the head coach of the Reserve Team for one of the most popular and storied Professional Soccer Teams in all of Mexico, Chivas.
Apparently Chivas officials were not going to let the Dad take time off to go see his son play in the World Cup. So, guess what he did? He quit his position. Is he a quitter?
Seems like his commitment to his family outweighed his commitment to his job/team. I don't know where everyone falls on this one, since it seems to combine both familial and sports commitments, but it is a nice story.
Interestingly enough, the Mexican team is already mired in a family dispute. One of their young stars is threatening to quit the squad completely in order to support his brother, who was left off of the final squad.
