I was in a meeting at work and my cell rang and i just hung it up, when it rang the second time I had to do the same because i forgot to silence it, otherwise it would have went to my voice mail and perhaps they would have left a message. I am currently not booked on any cruise, I have sailed 4 times with dcl. I called the number back and it went to dcl, I asked why someone would call me and they said there is no way they can make outbound calls. I read them the number on my recent calls and the rep said that is the number from headquarters? now why would they be calling me.

I'm not sure, but i'm really interested to here the answer if you find out.

Did you perhaps mention a problem on your last trip survey? It seems like they sometimes follow-up on those.

Have you entered any sweepstakes or contests with DCL? Now that would really stink if you had won a cruise and they were calling to let you know!

Maybe it is Goofy making prank calls. :) It could be a new marketing strategy. Call and hang up... the customer will call back and find out it's DCL and the consumer's interest is peaked. Then a certain percentage will go on to book a cruise. Automated phone calls are cheaper than other advertising.

Or it really wasn't DCL calling. Some telemarketers have found ways to have your caller id display a number other than theirs in an effort to get you to answer. Or maybe someone at DCL did call you....there is no way they can't call out, they do it all the time to tell passengers about upgrades. But a lot of phone systems with confidential direct dial inside numbers don't display the direct dial number on caller ID, they display the main number. I know we have issues at work because if we call someone from our direct dial number, the caller ID displays our switchboard number, not our direct dial number. Our poor PBX operator gets calls back from people insisting she just called them. Of course she didn't, and with over 100 direct dial extensions in the building, she has no way to find out who made the call.

I don't give out my cell phone number to anyone. That phone is just for me to make calls, or for my wife, kids, mom or in laws to get a hold of me. My home phone is the number I give out, and we screen all calls through the answering machine.

Either way, you call and don't leave a message, I'm not calling you back.

These circumstances were a bit different because the OP hung up on the caller - twice. The caller never reached voicemail to leave a message. But true, it may or may not have really been DCL.

We were called by DCL a couple of months ago to let us know that we had a personal cruise consultant should we want to book another cruise any time soon. This was after we received an unsolicited planning CD. I was really surprised because we have never been called.

I know you said you hadn't booked a cruise but by chance did you request any new info? (The DVD?) We got SEVERAL calls after requesting one last year.

Gosh, we have booked 3 cruises, ordered the DVD and play on the site ALOT. No one has ever called me. :sad1:

Your caller ID can also say DCL if you've had anything going on with your Disney Visa. We had fraud last summer and it messed up our disney dollars, I was always disappointed when the caller ID said DCL and it was about our cc issue, not a free upgrade or discount.
