So I finally decided to buy a new Sorcerer's Pass. I have an active pass, but wanted to buy, rather than renew. The bad news is that it took almost an hour, only because he wanted to be sure that on my next trip, it would recognize my current pass, but not activate this new pass. Without this unique problem, I would have been off the phone in under 15 minutes. But the good news is that I got the $75 gift card in under an hour. And I've already linked it to my other cards, so I know I have the $75! I was thrilled about that, and wanted to share. But unfortunately, he didn't know who'd on the new AP magnet-I hope it's Nemo or Dory.

No matter what he did, before I entered my first park I’d go to GR outside that park and ask them to prioritize my active AP over my new AP, and after I entered the park I’d go to GR inside to be sure the correct one was used. I’ve read this advice many times in the TPAS Ticket sticky, usually in response to a story where the wrong ticket was used despite efforts to prevent it.

I've never had 2 APs on my account at the same time .....but I have had an AP, non-expiring old tickets, and unused 5-day hoppers linked at the same time. When I went to make park ressies it had me select the ticket entitlement I wanted to use for that park ressie.

Making a park reservation and selecting your current AP.....even if one is not needed, might help ensure the correct AP being used. It's been a couple years since we've had APs so if things have changed then ignore me 😁

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, or maybe I'm just an idiot, but why would you want to pay for a new pass rather than renew? Just to get the gift card? Or is there some other benefit to buying a new pass? Again, maybe I don't understand, but the 10 more points used to buy new are certainly worth more than a $75 gift card.

The reason I did it is because my current AP expires shortly after my next trip. Then it will be several months before I go again and my understanding is that a renewal AP starts the day after your AP expires. This way the one I bought doesn't start until I "activate" it by entering the park, and I didn't think the savings was worth the wasted dates. And although I wish I could use 10 points, I don't have MMB, and don't know if it will be offered next year (and if so, at what price). Frankly, I agree with your confusion-I'm not sure what I did is the most economical way. I'm just really glad I got the gift card. He told me that he had to sell me an AP certificate, and not link it yet, so I was nervous about the $75. So when it came in only an hour later, it gave me a huge sigh of relief. However, it's a good idea to go to Guest Services (is that the same as "Will Call"?) to be sure he got it right before my next visit.

That actually makes sense. I would have probably considered doing the same in that situation. I just bought mine for the fisrt time and I agree that the gift card was a nice touch.

We did new instead of renewing because ours expired in March. I only had one day planned between March and August so it didn’t make sense.

Plus I had a free ticket to use for my June day so it made even more sense! Now, I’ll activate Aug 14th and my renewals will now me more in line with when I need it in full force!!
