Why would check in require the front desk?

Friend on the way to Coronado springs right now. She got an email telling her to go to the front desk for her room assignment, as opposed to being given a room number to skip the front desk. She’s very concerned about why this may be. Any ideas?

This happened to us in December at BLT. We were at MK when the text came through and I too was nervous that something was amiss. But, there wasn't. We were assigned our 2 bedroom villa and on our way up within just a minute or two.

She shouldn't be concerned. I recently returned from a three resort split and got the room ready text with room number and could go right to my room at the GF and YC, but I got the go to the front desk to check text in at the BWI.

Ok good. Glad to hear this. Guess they aren’t fully doing the bypass the front desk thing.

Thank you! She’s about 45 min away from the resort and it’s been a long drive so her nerves are frazzled. I’m sure it’s nothing, and I learned something new!

maybe her room is not ready? One time we checked into BLT and were still waiting at 445--turns out our room had a plumbing issue. The nice guy at the desk gave us some fastpasses for waiting so patiently.

I thought about this but I’m not telling her that! It’s been a bad day and they just stopped for gas and her husbands debit card was declined. That thought will make her crazy!

We had this once because Disney's system hadn't recorded our credit card. No big deal. Just gave it to them at the desk and on our way. Nothing to worry about.

This could be it, absolutely. I wondered the same about our room at BLT in December. It was close to 5:30 pm when I got the text message to see the front desk, and while nothing was said in regard to there being an issue with the room, we had no hot water in the second bathroom and the shower lever came off in my hand when I turned it on. It took them two days to get the water fixed in that bathroom!

Oh my goodness! Let’s hope that doesn’t happen to them. The trip down has been rough. They’ve been run off the road, debit card issues, issues with restaurant service, work issues have cropped up causing them to have to stop and handle them and then their check engine light came on! They need to not have any more issues!

We had to go to the desk for our stay at YC because whet was to be be our assigned room was “taken out of service” and they didn’t have an equivalent standard room for us. At the desk, they gave us two other options, and let us pick. I appreciated that they didn’t just pick for us.

Yeah - no big deal. We once had a 3 resort split got the room ready/no. text at the first - AKL but still had to swing by the front desk as the cc didn’t properly link. Got the room ready/no. text at the second - BWV and never had to stop at the front desk, got the swing by the desk text at the 3rd - VGF and it took like 2 min.s to give us directions to our villa & maybe link credit card.

Its nothing to be "nervous" about.
Doing online check in does not guarantee that you will skip the front desk and there are various reasons as to why you'd have to stop by the front desk none of which would be earth shattering.

Oh wow! I hope all the bad stuff is behind them now. Did they get their room? I’ve had to go to the front desk a handful of times since they started the bypass program, and it was never anything horrible that negatively impacted my trip.

about the debit card have them call their bank, happened to us one trip where we forgot to let bank know we were going out of town. bank put a hold on debit card because of out of state charges and we were not home to get the call

She’s on it. Her husbands didn’t work suddenly but hers did. They had to call to tell them. Just frustrating when it’s one more thing to have to deal with.

if they didn't check with cards before they left, have them call both card as her might get declined when they start using it and yes it happened to us. when bank couldn't get us on phone they put a stop on card until we called as a safety
