My DH and I are heading to WDW in late October for MNSSHP and the Food and Wine Fest. We are pretty sure we will be making reservations at the Swan (TEACH rate). Tell me why we will love this resort.
Our previous stay was at the WL in 9/02. DH loved Epcot and MGM, so we've decided to opt for a resort in that area.

The number 1 reason is the Swan's location. It simply can't get any better if you are fans of Epcot and MGM. Another good reason is the dining in and around the resort. Many WDW restaurants get panned by critics, but the Swan and Dolphin both offer award winning restaurants that serve with style and great food. Another great thing about the Swan in the Heavenly Beds. They are what their name suggests...heavenly. The made-over rooms are very comfortable, and you look forward to relaxing in the hotel at night. Another great reason to stay at the Swan is the Grotto Pool. I am in the minority, but the Grotto is the best pool at WDW or adults, and the second best for kids. There are many hot-tubs around a 3-acre pool, but unlike SAB, it is easy to keep you eye on your kids while you relax in the ghot tub or swim in the clean, less crowded, water. I was a lonf time critic of the Swan and Dolphin...until I stayed there. I've learned that these two resorts are some of the best on property.

We have been to the Swan, with the gov't discount. We have also stayed at WL in the past, as other WDW resorts. We, like you, stayed at WL before we went to the Swan. And although I am sure you will agree that WL rocks, I really believe you will love the Swan too. Here's my top ten:

1. Pretty darn inexpensive (with the teach/gov't discount you get the most economical room in the EPCOT resort area possible, and it's a deluxe!)
2. Beautiful, renovated rooms with "heavenly beds"
3. The Boardwalk (fun nightlife and excellent restaurants)
4. Pastries for breakfast at the Boardwalk Bakery or Krispy Kreme's at Tubbi's in the Dolphin (yum)
5. The Health Club (MASSAGE!!!)
6. Beautiful walking trails along the EPCOT resort loop
7. You can walk to EPCOT!
8. A serene quiet pool, in addition to the large meandering pool that the Swan and Dolphon share.
9. Good service (we had wonderful and attentive service when we stayed here)
10. Mini-golf (it's a fun way to spend an evening at the resort)

We did become Starwood members in advance of our Swan stay, and we did receive an unsolicited upgrade at checkin, which was an unexpected but welcome surprise. The Swan and WL are so very different from each other, but each is unique and has much to offer in my book. I hope you enjoy the Swan as much as we did!

You just can't beat that location ! I stayed at The Swan Dec. 2001, and Dec 2002. I received a complimentary upgrade to a balcony room each time, and I was on the gov't discount.
Also, each time I got there about 11 am, and my room was already ready.

I agree with all the above posters; however, I want to add a little something.

In Dec 2000, I threw coins in that beautiful Swan fountain in the lobby. I did this every day I was there, wishing for a *certain*
something. ( Can't tell you what it is )

In Dec. 2001, I also threw coins in the fountain every day just to say " Thank You" ! I got my *certain* something, and then some !

Is the fountain magical ???

great location....you can walk to Epcot, MGM, Boardwalk & mini-golf

great restaurant selection....S/D dining, Boardwalk dining, Y&B dining and Wold Showcase dining

great coffee!!!.....Tubbi's has Starbucks coffee, instead of that nasty WDW Nescafe coffee

great entertainment......clubs on the Boardwalk, mini-golf

If your last park of the day is Epcot or MGM....no buses, just a short walk to your room

great heavenly beds at the Swan

Great resorts overall!!!!!

1. Location
2. Location
3. Location
4. Did I mention location??????

Seriously (& I apologize if some of the answers are duplicates!)-
1. Location
2. 24 hour convenience of Tubbi's + it has good food.
3. Great Club Level (if you can get an upgrade)
4. Easy access to Boardwalk
5. Walk or beautiful boat ride to MGM or Epcot
6. Quick access by highway to off-property locations
7. EZ walk to mini-golf next door
8. That beautiful pool with the shady spots under the overhang
9. Those refillable mugs from Tubbi's.
10. Multiple discount programs for rates
11. Very convenient self-parking (Swan) - quick in & out to lot
12. The great employees

You will love the Swan! The beach theme, the Heavenly beds, the grotto pool, the DOLPHIN (my fav) next door, the restaurants and access to Epcot, MGM and Boardwalk can't be beat! Have a magical time!

AND, you don't have to walk to the Dolphin to get your Krispy Kremes-there is a little food kiosk in the Swan lobby open at 6am with kks, croissants, muffins, juice, coffee, various milks, fruits and cereals.

You will LOVE the location of the Swan-being able to walk back to the hotel after the fireworks is pretty special.
