Do people bid over the actual value of a Disney gift card on eBay? I will never understand!

They overbid a lot of gift cards. I remember reading one theory that people who don't have credit cards will buy gift cards off Ebay b/c they pay with paypal. Then they are able to shop stores like Amazon. I've always wondered though if there was some kind of bigger scam going on

I've never understood it either. I once won a $500 Home Depot gift card and since a hardware store isn't my ideal shopping location I put it on eBay. Someone bid (won and paid) $545 for it.

eBay has Ebucks, sometimes they double & triple them, also some people want to utilize the pay later feature eBay & PayPal offers.

I read a few times people are buying them with stolen credit cards loading up on giftcards from places like ebay.
after the credit card is found to be stolen it becomes very difficult to trace

There's a particular discontinued design I'd be happy to pay more than face value for if anybody put it up for sale.
But regular everyday ones ? Ummm, no
