I am booking a trip for a friend. It will be 1 adults, 2 kids ages 8&9. They are getting 6 day no-hopper passes. Staying at POP, added air, insurance and ME. I did everything on line, then called AAA to see if it would be worth joining. I gave them all the info, and what I came up with was around 2200. I gave them 2 different weeks in Feb. One is value season and one was not. The lowest price they gave me was 3100 for value and 3400 for reg. Now I can't imagine what they did that would of made the price so much different. I went with value season, added another adult, and got ressies for CRT and it all came to 3000. That is a big difference in price. Anyone know why. When I called Disney to make the reservations, without me saying I had been online to check things out, we were within 5 dollars of each other.:confused3

Thats not right at all unless maybe AAA added something in there they werent supposed to, like park hoppers or maybe the DDP. I would call back and talk to someone different. Just letting you know its very easy to figure out how much it would cost AAA rate. I do this all the time for my trips and im never off except for maybe a couple cents.

1. Go to disneyworld.com

2. On the reservation box click on ROOM ONLY and then fill out rest of the info. Click search for prices.

3. Pick your resort

4. Choose your view. Once view is selected, make sure you click on UPDATE.

5. Skip the rest for now, scroll all the way down to the total of the price. Write that price down, multiply the total by 15% (value season) or 10% (peak season). Take that amount and subtract it from the total Disney gave you. That is your AAA room rate.

6. Go back up and fill out the rest of the info for tickets, packages and transportation. Dont forget to click update for each section.

7. On the next page go all the way to the bottom. Take that price Disney gives you now, subtract it from the original pricing Disney gave you before you took away AAA discount. Then add the AAA discounted rate you got from STEP 5. That total amount you now see is what AAA should give you.

If your confused by all this, give me all the info, dates, hotel and view, number of people, what package you want, etc. and I can figure it out for you and let you know how much it should cost with AAA. Just letting you know AAA is a great company to be with. I always use AAA for my Disney trips. This time im saving well over $500 for having AAA.

I am confused also..I thought AAA was supposed to be a good discount. I was thinking about joining to get the discount and have the added benefit of having AAA...should I reconsider?

AAA agents are really hit or miss. I would avoid it because its not worth trying to coach someone through their job, it will only cause friction.

So you would suggest NOT doing the AAA rate with a package?

At times AAA may be the only discount available. If you are booking a package and want the AAA discount, you can only get that by using an AAA agent.
You can call WDW directly for AAA room only discounts.

I agree with getting all the numbers in order before calling. I always do this and am amazed by how many errors I catch. The WDW travel website will always default to length of stay (# of days at WDW) tickets with hopping and water parks. I think it also automatically adds insurance and gives you the most expensive room view. You need to tell your agent exactly what you want and verify they have made the changes.

Also, rack rate priced rooms will come up on the travel site if AAA discount is not available. Just because you are booking with AAA doesn't mean you are guaranteed the discount.

In the OP's case, the airfare might account for the difference too.

Somethings definitely not right. AAA price should be the same as direct from Disney, minus 10-15% of the room cost. Only the room is discounted w/AAA.

Maybe it was the airfare? Or maybe the AAA agent added some expensive option like no-expiration or something.

I tried the method Disney8704 suggested, and it only saved me $149.00. Considering I would have to pay $75.00 just to join AAA, then the hassle of rebooking again with my 2 other parties (and they would have to join AAA also to get their discount) doesn't really seem worth it. I was hoping it would save more $$$. I really hope a discount code comes out for us!

I wouldn't. There are often other promos offered, I suppose if you go during a time and there is nothing else available it may be worthwhile, I've always found something else though.

(Can we do this here?) .... Can someone recommend a good AAA agent (one that knows Disney)? The one we used for a recent trip knew absolutely nothing about Disney.

Can't you book a room with a AAA discount directly through Disney? I know I've secured a room only and a campsite with AAA discount, while booking with Central reservations. Never had to deal with an actual AAA agent. Simply asked what the AAA rate was and if it was available for the time I was visiting.

You can call my AAA TA if you like. She has been so awesome!! I have been working with her for the past 4 yrs now rebooking my trip because we had to keep changing dates due to DH deployments. If you want her name and number PM me and I will give you the info. She is at my local AAA which is here in Dover, DE.
