Why think FP- system will be phased out?

EMH is supposed to be for resort guests only. We have gone several times to late EMH and have always had to show room keys and last month, our Magic Bands.

Ive seen people in the am get through.

It just not enough though even if it is resort only. I think it would be great if FP+ and Legacy where for resort guest only.

It is being reported Faspasses were gone for the day for TSM, RnR and Soarin by 9:30 this morning.

That is crazy and unacceptable (IMO).

Then that means they've incorporated the amount of FP+ reservations into the total FP distribution. So that would make sense.

Typical?

In mid-October?

Well, it makes sense that they're taking one pool of fast pass allotments & splitting it into a pool available for Legacy and FP+. If half the FPs are already gone before RD due to being assigned as FP+, the remaining pool is going to run out twice as fast. If they previously would have run out by 12, 3 hours after opening, it makes sense for them to be gone by 10:30. Add a heavier than average crowd on a holiday weekend and it's unsurprising to see them gone even earlier.

That seems typical. My question is: What was the standby time?

It is absolutely Atypical for mid-October. The past two years, we were able to pull FPs at 8:45 ish with a return time of 9:40. When the window to pull another set opened at 9:40, we pulled FPs for early afternoon (around 1:00). When the window opened a third time at 11:40, we were able to pull FPs for early evening. FPs weren't all distributed until afternoon on our past October trips.

A Wednesday morning in October isn't a holiday weekend. I still think it's far more likely to be a glitch in the system than the full-on effect of FP+.

Wow. I'm betting not a glitch. Dialing back the machines, til poof, they are gone.

Well, as they say in the FAQs over and over, standby will still be available.

Sorry, I was referring to the earlier consternation that they were gone exceedingly early during the Columbus Day weekend. Being gone early on a Wednesday indicates, to me, that they're ramping up the pool available for FP+ and decreasing what's available to Legacy FP users. And it plays both sides of the coin. It's good because it indicates FP+ is in its final phases of testing. It's bad because, for now, it's impacting off-site guests' ability to use the parks they way they expect.

It is not a glitch. Anyone who's ever participated in beta testing or stress testing knows that part of the test is bringing the system fully online and overloading it. Can you say Thanksgiving week?

Sadly, I have a co-worker who's going that week and hasn't done ONE THING about MB or FP+.

Thanksgiving week might produce the first murder of a CM in Disney's history.

It just might. EVERYTHING up to this point leads me to believe that is the week Disney is planning to completely burden the system. I've beta and stress tested games. A full capacity load is one of the last phases of testing. You couldn't pay me a million dollars to test FP+ & MBs Thanksgiving week.

Yes, I know MM+ is not a game. However, it IS a huge new piece of software that Disney expects to be able to use to basically run the entire guest experience, from room access to meals to charging to fast pass. Everything. And to make sure it's capable it HAS to be tested under a full capacity load.

You're talking as though this was some well-written software launch.

Nothing...
in the software that Disney has thrown into the face of the public has
performed without daily glitches, hangups, dropouts, errors, crashes and confusion to the users.

Bodes ill.

Oh boy. Good luck to them.

People (meaning myself) probably should adjust their expectations right now, focus on the other things...pretty holiday lights, la la la.

I RARELY laugh out loud at something I read on a forum. But this comment hit me in the funny bone!!! It is preposterous, yet rooted in the truth that the FP+ system is driving some folks batty. :rotfl:

Probably right- except that I wonder how the fact that the system went on total overload last week and couldn't handle even the testing crowd is going to change things. MDE was not working in the parks at all on more than one day last week- it was on clear overload. Their Wifi was on total overload and barely working as well. If MDE, Wifi and their system can't handle an expanded testing crowd- I don't see how they are ready for a full roll out on a major Holiday. Of course, they still have over a month to tweak and try to fix all the problems they had last week.

The fact that's it's a glitchy mess makes it worse. Now, why it's a glitchy mess is what Disney IT has to solve. Is it capacity? Is it antiquated back end systems incapable of keeping up? Is it poor coding?

I think it's a terrible idea to roll forward with a full out, all resort test for the month of November, but Disney appears hell bent on it. Which indicates to me that this is much farther along the timeline to full roll out than Disney is letting us know.
