Why they are closing monorail earlier

I know some of these have already been answered, but the same question keeps being asked so I'm going to answer them again in one spot!

How do you get from Epcot back to the parking lot?
Do they have the trams?.

Park at EPCOT, not the TTC. Then you can either take the tram or even walk to your car. Walking is often quicker.

I suppose the TTC would be where I needed to park to get into Epcot...
How far is the walk? Or how much is a cab?
I'd rather cut off my right arm then take a stupid bus, that's why we keep our rental and Valet park.

Park at EPCOT. You cannot walk from the ttc to EPCOT - it's several miles way and the only route is via highway.

OK....but what happens if you are a guest and drive to the park?? Especially MK because there is NO safe way to walk back to the car... to the CR yes...maybe they will let me park there...hehehe:lmao:

At mk you would take the ferry boat to the ttc/ parking lot. Those will continue to run until the park is clear every night. No need to walk.

And just to add one point, even with the monorail shut down after park close in the evenings, you can still take the direct boats to the mk from the contemporary, poly and gf. Yes, I know it's not the same, but it's much nicer to me than the busses from other resorts or driving from off property. I own at Blt and love riding the monorail, especially to epcot, and the shortened service will not keep us from staying there.

Depends on when you go. Nearly all of our trip last December was during a terrible cold spell. Others going at different times in December and well into January had to deal with the same bitter cold temps.

I wouldn't classify the trip out in the open across the water at the end of a bitter cold night out in the park to be "nicer".

Nor would I. And frankly, the transportation logistics appear to be growing into an exercise not unlike planning ADR's, which is borderline silly.

This "1 hour after park closing" nonsense raises all sorts of issues with EMH and ticketed events not to mention which park? Epcot? MK? The one that closes earliest and then THAT monorail route will close but the other will remain open? The TTC - Epcot and TTC - MK will close but the Resort line will continue to run?

Has Disney presented us with a business opportunity to start a website or download an app that will calculate monorail availability for you?

Regardless of the reason (maintenance, cost savings, experimental brain surgery) for shutting down the monorail, why not do so with a consistent time that everyone can easily plan around?

Park hours vary every night, while reasons to go from one monorail resort to another exist well past park hours on some evenings. So why not just say "The monorail(s) run from 6am to Midnight"?

I would most likely continue to book at CR if I know exactly when the monorails run and it doesn't become yet another variable that has to be plugged into our planning. For reasons already explained, I don't think a bus or open-air water ride is a reasonable substitution for those staying at a monorail resort and paying the premium for monorail service.

I don't know, but it seems to me that this monorail thing really only effects one park and that is MK. What is all the hubbub about. They will get you to the parking lot, they will get you to your MK resorts...it's not like you are all going to be stranded. And it isn't even a problem on nights when there is no EMH at MK or special events.

On nights when there is nothing special happening you then have an hour from closing time to catch a ride back via monorail. Why is that a problem? If you say well I want to shop or just sit or whatever...do that during park hours not after. They close at that time for a reason. Those CM's are not AA's. They have families and have been on their feet all day catering to the whims of guests. Let them go home just like you want to do at the end of your work day.

All that said, I don't really agree with closing down transportation when they have something officially scheduled like EMH. It just seems irresponsible on some level, but as long as they provide sufficient transportation I cannot see that it is that big a deal.

It actually affects both Epcot and the MK. That's 2 of 4 parks.

And the special events happen 4 nights most weeks between now and mid-December.

And it can affect anyone paying top dollar to dine at a monorail resort.
