Why there is no Beach Club Villa Merchandise (yet)

I asked specifically why there was no BCV merchandise available on opening day. If you all remember, the BCV was supposed to open in September. By opening two months early, the merchandise was simply not ready. When we checked in on July 1st, the map that we were given of YC/BC/BCV had the whole BCV resort greyed out with something to the effect of "Opening in Fall 2002" on that part of the map. The BCV pool isn't even on the map. I was hoping to send BCV postcards to my friends, but the only thing available were the two postcards in the room.

I hope that I can pickup some BCV goodies when I'm back there in December for DIScon 2002.

Towncrier, I guess that does make sense. Didn't they know the opening date back in early March though? I would think that would be enough time to get merchandise in, but what do I know? We were very disappointed that there wasn't much merchandise. No one seemed to know if and when they'd receive anything. My husband was lucky enough to get a BCV hat which sold out fast. I wasn't too excited about the T-shirt they had so I passed on it.

Speaking of merchandise, we walked over to the BWV store and they had all their DVC stuff on sale. I got a BWV T-shirt for $9.99, a BWV hat for $9.99, and a DVC beach towel for $15.00. We were told they are changing the logo and trying to get rid of all their merchandise. Has anyone heard what this new logo is going to be? The CM at the store didn't know.

I'm anxious to see the new logo, too

I did see a BCV pin on ebay.

The BCV pin that you saw on eBay was the one given away during the open house that was held the week of June 25th. We didn't get down to WDW in time to participate, so we didn't get the pin. I was told by a DVC CM that they are going to be mailing a BCV pin to all DVC members. I'm not holding my breath.

But we can hope and dream, right John? That would be a happy present to get in the mail!!

They did send a VWL pin to everyone when it opened so maybe when all the BCV stuff gets there from China they will send us a new pin.

I was able to go to the open house on 6/25 at BCV. I got 2 pins for going. I think the pins look too much like BWV, they needed something a little more different. Hum, how much was it selling for on e-bay??? No, I'm only kidding. I have one and my 5 yr old dd has taken over the other.

I also got the $9.99 BWV t-shirt and dh got the $9.99 hat. You did probably see the new logo because it was right in the front of the BWV store. It is the DVC 10 yr logo. That's what the lady behind the counter told me when I was there, that that was the new logo. Right when you walked into the store there was a stand that had all of the 10 yr DVC logo on it.

We were lucky enough to stop at DVC location on Main Street 6/23 to ask if there would be opening ceremony at BCV 7/1 (last day of our trip.). CM said she thought there was an Open House next day (6/24). She made a phone call to confirm-yep! 12-5pm. We were there by 12:30. Tons of CMs showing models, grounds by way of a sort of 'Treasure Hunt'. At the end of your visit to all areas of resort, each participant rec'd a BCV pin!

When we stopped at the BC store on our Treasure Hunt there were about 5 yellow t-shirts with large DVC logo on back in torquoise and small BCV name on front for $20. Can't believe I splurged, but I couldn't resist. No other BCV merchandise there.

On last day, we stopped at OKW looking for rubber magnets (DS collects them). DVC items marked down, the CM there said, because new logo items arriving. She said they changed logo because of 'mountains'-not really relevant as most DVCers stick with Disney resorts, they have found. The new design is more like OKW logo-it will include a lighthouse, be more colorful. But she wasn't sure if Mickey & the Gang would be included.
