Why the new Contemp vs AKL?

yea - if you are a MK fan - then the CR - Bay Lake Towers is it.

that say - would really like to see the points chart before buying.

own at OKW, VWL and BWV - so right now get MK and Epcot already. (okay they are tiny - might need to buy more to be sure to get Dec)

I bought in last May & started out with 200 points @ SSR. At the time I chose SSR over AKL and to this day I am happy with my decision. However I have yet to actually use my points @ SSR. It's been BWV everytime that I've actually used MY points. While I have only been a member for a little over 1 year, my mother has been a member since 1996 so we are very familiar with DVC and all of the resorts and the way things work. BWV is by far my favorite DVC resort and I am now contemplating adding on. I've thought about waitlisting @ BWV & adding on there, but with that said I have been extremely intersted in owning @ a possible Contemporary DVC ever since the rumors began. I love the MK resort area & the Contemporary is my favorite resort overall (BWV a very, very close 2nd). My dilemna now is whether to just waitlist for BWV or wait & buy in @ Contemporary. I'm currently leaning towards buying in @ Contemporary when it 1st opens even though it will be more expensive and then eventually adding BWV in the future as that will most likely be easier to get than Contemporary in the years to come. I'm only 21 years old so obviously I have a lot of time, but I will be starting my career (Firefighter) in October and w/ the pay increase that I will see I should be able to add-on at least 100 points, maybe even more.

the top management at DVC (and we all know who that is) - say the points were to low and the price was too.

so don't expect the rooms deal that BWV and AKV have - the standard & value view.

would hope that a non-mk view - especially one looking at CR would be similiar priced(point wise). but if that rumor is correct don't count on it.

based on this a MK view at the CR will be expensive....

so might go with BWV - especially for 21 years old - the food/wine in Sept/Oct/Nov....

Yea I definitely see your points. The only thing is, I feel like in the years to come I will have an easier time adding on @ BWV than I will @ CR. Also I haven't really had any problems booking @ BWV within the 7 month window whereas I feel you are really gonna need that 11 month window @ CR. My plan as of now is to add-on several times over the next 5 years because with our payscale we reach top pay in 5 years w/ annual pay increases of varying amounts.

Okay, lets say I buy at AKV because of the incentives, what ever the minimum is ( 160 I think??) and add on at the Contemporary a minimum ( what # amount is that?) can I book 11 months out at the Contemporary using my points from both, or only the points from Contemporary?

Also, why do those own at several different DVC "homes" not just have all of their points at one place?

You can only use points for that specific resort 11 months ahead. For example you would be able to use your 160 from AKV 11 months in advance only at AKV.

have most at OKW, but have BWV and VWL for early Dec - when it is hard to get.

with the new system don't even know if that will help me. but still hoping.

We have personally had trouble already getting into AKV just calling out 8-9 and 10 months out--and that's out home resort.
We've been members since Sept 07', and already are finding out...book your HOME Resort as soon as you can...then try and get into elsewhere at the 7mths out. I imagine if AKV is this tough, CRV will be even more difficult.

we must have been lucky to be able to book AKV Value Studio during F&W @ 7 month window...there was standard & pref along w/1 BR units too...no full stay for concierge though, just isolated days (as expected).

i did check back last week for our dates, since i was dropping a couple of nights & had hoped to bump up view or to 1 BR, nothing left there, only a few isolated days @ SSR & OKW
