Why the difference in pricing?

Does anyone know why when you get a quote from the WDW website it quotes you a price that is higher than the one you calculate yourself? I did the calculations for the 2007 rate for Boardwalk for a week and get between $250-$600 difference even when I include the room tax. I'm trying to figure out where the extra money is thrown in.

Anybody have any ideas?

What are the specifics of your ressie & what was your final total & the website's final total? I'm sure someone here will be able to solve this dilemma.

Not sure if this is the case in your situation, but I know that when the WDW site calculates a package price, it defaults to a preferred-view room. You have to change it to a standard-view room (IF that's what you want) and then click on "update" for it to recalculate the package price.

That's what I did. I was only looking for a standard view room (which I changed it to). The room came out to over $2,800 for 7 nights but when I did the calculations (including room tax) I got over $2,300. I kept it simple, no frivolities. No trip insurance, either. I wasn't looking for a package, just room only which is why this is so strange. :guilty:

How are you calculating your price? Are you taking into account what season you're looking at?

I'm sure I've got the right season. It's still the value season I'm looking at.

It's more like $370/night.

That's why I asked about the specifics of your ressie. The dates I used came out as $403/night. But without knowing your specific dates, it's impossible to be on the same page.

Oops! I just checked and it's $315/night. But it's for 2007. I used Dec. 15-23. So I shouldn't have to pay the holiday rate since the week starts in value season.

=315 * 1.125 (taxes) = 355 * 7 = $2,485

when I did disney using Dec 14, 2007 for 7 nights - it was $2480.66

okay something strange is definitely happening I just did Disney now and the price was $2,401.91 when the $2,480.66 was closer?

I'm guessing this has to do with the computer not being able to split the price difference. In looking at a calendar the holiday season will start on the 19th next year. So the best thing is to call CRO to book this to get the correct rate.

Well, if the room is $315 a night. (assuming two adults and no additional)
$315 x 12.5% tax ($39.38) = $354.38 per night.
x 7 nights = $2,480.66

Ahhh -- 8 nights, not 7.
I used Dec. 15-23
1 night - Dec 15
2 - Dec 16
3 - Dec 17
4 - Dec 18
5 - Dec 19
6 - Dec 20
7 - Dec 21
8 - Dec 22 (Check out Dec 23)

8 nights comes to $2,835.04.

Disney just updated their computer system. Could they have changed to a system that charges you the "correct" rate every night if the season changes during your stay as opposed to charging you the rate in effect at the beginning of your stay?

Lewisc -- They have not done this. the systems work the same on this.

You know, you guys have given me a lot of food for thought. I didn't think about how the system was handling the change in seasons. Thank you for all the work you guys went through to find the answer for me.
