Why such a difference in price....

Ok we made a decision last night to skip the cruise & stay in WDW for 7 nights. Now DH thinks we'll all go nuts staying in the standard room at BC or YC. I printed out prices on 2 BRM's last night. The BCV are about 1/2 the cost of BC or YC & I'm wondering why. Anyone know?

(We've a family of 5 - kids are 11, 8 & 7)

I'm not sure I got it- are you saying a 2 br at BCV is 1/2 the price of a standard BC or YC room?

I have not stayed at the BCV yet, but you should post your question on the DVC board since BCV are a DVC resort. You should get lots of advice there.

Well, at least part of the reason would be that a 2 BR suite at BC/YC also has concierge privileges, while the BCV does not. Someone with a little more experience with the two may be along to contribute information.

Wow!! I was just curious and looked it up on Allears site. Beach Club 2 bedroom suite is over $1100???? Is that per night???? I am in shock!

jjohnson - You're welcome! BTW - we are a family of 5, and had no problem staying in the std. rooms. However, you have several choices if this is a problem for you. You could book a std. deluxe room, and get a little more sq. footage, an option a lot of large families choose. Or, you could get a 1-bdrm. suite, a lot less money, you still get two rooms, a bedroom and a fold-out, and concierge privileges. Just a thought!

Not trying to talk you out of the Villas, they look gorgeous, and have a washer/dryer (huge plus! ) but if you want to stay in the main bldg. and have CL, you have several options.

jjohnson - Well, now that you mention it, I have not stayed in the 1-bedroom suites, just read about others that have. I assumed you could have 5 in a one-bedroom, as you can have 5 in a deluxe room, and in the jr. suite at WL you can fit 6. Let me see if I can find something that gives max. occupancy. If you can have 5 in a std., it would seem strange you could only have 4 in a room with more sq. footage. I'll check it out! Thanks for bringing that up!

Edited to add: I couldn't find the info online, so I did what all good Dis'ers should and called CRO! They looked it up, and I stand corrected - at the BC, a 1-bdrm. suite only allows 3 + infant, as it has 1 king and a daybed. The deluxe std. room holds 5 + infant, but no CL privileges. So, if you want CL, you will have to book a std. CL room (which holds 5) or go with the 2-bdrm. suite. Sorry for the mix-up!

Okay - I'll take a stab at offering my 2cents here....



....first off, Occuppancy at the DVC villa's is as follows:

Studio's - 4 (5 if one person is a child under 3 in a pak-n-play crib)

1bdrm - 4 (5 if one person is a child under 3 in a pak-n-play crib)

2 bdrm - 8 (9 if one person is a child under 3 in a pak-n-play crib)

GV - 12 (13 if one person is a child under 3 in a pak-n-play crib)


AS for a 2bdrm villa at any of the DVC's being less than the cost of a standard room, I think that must be mis-information. I have yet to see a standard room be over $500 per night. The 2bdrm villa's however probably are less expensive than a 2bdrm SUITE however. You have to remember that a 2bdrm suite is a suite at the regular hotel portion of the BC and considered upper level -- just like concierge is upper level. The 2bdrm villas are in the DVC resort (the BCV's) adjacent to the BC and are in the home-away-from home catagory. While they do have really nice ammenities such as washer and dryer in the room and KIng beds and jacuzzi's, they do not come with concierge services. They are the timeshare portion of the resort.

and printed the floor plans for BC. There is 1 room (#1557) on the ground floor that is a junior suite with 2Q and a daybed.
I'm also thinking since its named a suite it would come with concierge. It must allow 5 people right?

Do you (or anyone else) happen to know what my chances of getting the exact room # if I fax a request?

A regular standard room at the BC can accomodate five people. We have three and thought the room was HUGE.

Not sure exactly what makes that room be considered a suite as lots of rooms at the deluxes have that same set up and aren't considered suites. Hmm....

I did have a room at the regular BC about 2yrs ago that was ground floor right outside of the quiet pool with the 2queens and a daybed. Cannot remember the room# though. It was a corner room. I wonder if this could be the same room as we were upgraded from a standard room to that room on that stay.

Your chances of getting an exact room # are very slim. You can request it and check with them again when checking in but if someone is already in that particular room before you, not checking out until days after you even check in, they just would not be able to accommodate you. It doesn't hurt to ask though on the off chance it could be available, I just wouldn't count on it. Your best bet is to request "near a pool" if you are looking for room#XYZ for example because you know it's near the pool. Or "room with a balcony" rather than the particular room # you know has a balcony. You'll have a much better chance of getting something comparable even if a particular room request cannot be filled.
