Why such a difference in price?

I originally booked a split stay btwn CSR & WL while we were on our trip a couple of weeks ago with the bounceback promo. Then we get home & I realize & confirm we won't be able to carry over the dining credits from the 1st reservation to the 2nd. Plus we would be paying for an exta 1 day park ticket for all of us to get the free dining.

Here's the qc, if a WL std nightly rate is $240 & CSR club level is $255, why is a 10 day trip to CSR so much less?

I changed our trip yesterday to CSR for 10 nights @ $255 a nt, 10 day park tickets(no park hopping/nor waterpark option), no insurance = $3068

For WL, I was quoted & confirmed on their website: $240 a nt for 10 nights, same 10 day park tickets, no insurance = $3423

That's a $337 difference in my favor for a room that has a more expensive nightly rate, can someone please unconfused me???

WL is a deluxe resort.
CSR is a moderate.
WL is closer to MK. (Location, location, location)

I see what you mean about the prices though. I am not up on the prices of tickets. Something has to be different. The room rate or tickets or something.
You mentioned a dining plan. Did they both or either include one, and what type?

While CSR is a moderate, it's higher nightly rate vs WL's higher pkg total is what I'm questioning.

Assuming you bought 2 adult 10 day tickets, and 1 child 10 day ticket, I would say you had to have gotten a lesser room rate than what you thought at CSR. With date based room rates maybe you are not being charged the same amount each night? Maybe crossing seasons.

Thanks Nikki - Our check-in date is 9/19/09 & check-out date 9/29/09, 10 nts Club Std, 10 day park tickets-no hopping, nor water parks & no insurance. We are 2 adults & 1 child (age will be 5) Total per my reservation confirmation $3086.00

I was thinking maybe since CSR caters to a business clientele, maybe a different tax would account for some of it. But that still doesn't explain this large of a discrepancy?

Because you priced a suite at CSR. Also the disney package includes tax whereas the price online doesnt add in tax until you confirm it all the way through

The quotes I received were by calling disney. I have a email confirmation on my CSR reservation with a total of $3086. This is the same amount I was able to obtain online without confirming the reservation. The WL rate was also quoted to me prior to my checking the $ online.

Ok, I get it now. That is very strange!! I typed in the dates too and got the same numbers. You are right, it makes no sense at all!!

Just out of curiousity, I removed the tickets to see room-only and WL is 2700 and CSR is 2869, so in this case, it is right. Why when you add tickets and make it a pacakge, does it get all screwy?? That means tickets are $700 with the WL room and only $200 with the CSR room. Weird!! But when you go to the "Add tickets" option on the CSR reservation page, it says it's going to add around $700 but once you update it, it only goes up to 3086.

Maybe there is a room discount when it is made into a package? Others have said they got a discount on the room and then discount on tickets and dining at certain resorts. Not all resorts but certain ones.

I won't be 2nd guessing & changing this reservation. Free dining & a package deal! Now that I've received a confirmation, paid a deposit, Disney isn't going to tell me they made a mistake, right?

I think I saw something on Mousesavers about some people, at some resorts, getting both free dining and an unadvertised room discount but I think that was specific to 2008...maybe the same thing happens in certain instances for 2009 bookings?

Over a 10 day stay you are probably mixing seasons. So again guessing that you are getting various room rates on various nights. You might be paying less other days than a Saturday, and depending on what other seasons you may stay under.
That's why with the daily room pricing some guests pay less, some more than the room rate based on arrival day as it use to be.
The tax rate is the same for WL and CSR.

I just checked the seasons and they are booking smack dab in the middle of value. So no mixing being done.

They're definitely seems to be some math issue on the WDW website.
