Why so many SSR resales?

I read a recent post askink "Why so many BWV resales?" I am more surprised at all the TIME SHARE STORE lisings for SSR resales. SSR is the second newest DVC and next to AKV has the longest expiration. Why have so many owners who bought within the last few years decided to sell. And why so low? I see most of the listings in the $80 range. BWV will be the first resort to expire (Unless you didn't take the OKW extension) so I can see owners taking the money and running before its to late, but SSR is a relatively new property. I am just curious because I am looking for a resale for my Mom and I think she would like SSR. Any input is appreciated.

Is it that time of the month again?

This topic on the number of resales comes up about once a month. The number of resales are proportionate to resort size and ownership, plus and minus. Also, the Timeshare Store is just a snap shot of the overall resale industry, just like the Disboard is a very small sample of owners.

Go to the advance serch feature to find the other threads relating to the number of resales.

On another resellers website, this is the breakdown for resales:

BCV - 2
BWV -8
OKW - 25
SSR - 33
VB - 6
HHI - 7
VWL - 4
AKV -1

Could be anything...
could be
They need the money
They hate SSR
They dislike SSR
They bought another property that they like better
Their kids no longer can do Disney as much as they did a few years ago
They bought 3 contracts and want only 2 now

Could be any number of reasons, but maybe because it is one of the newest resorts, since many of those contracts are still mortgaged, and the "rconomic slowdown" may be hitting folks that never expected it.

We sold our SSR contract because we didn't like the location. We like to end each evening at Epcot and then walk around the Boardwalk. Unfortunately, I didn't know (or wasn't told) that we could do our initial buy-in somewhere else. So...since we wanted DVC we bought what we were offered.

We love the BCV/BWV area, especially the guaranteed boardwalk view and standard view booking categories at BWV...both hard to get at the 7 month mark. So we added on at BWV and sold our SSR. We wanted all of our points in one place.

We bought the SSR 2 years ago as an add on but we sold it recently due to finiancial stress. We owned the other resorts outright and we didn't want to be stuck paying the mortage payments every month anymore. The other resorts we owned , we only have to worry about the maint. dues. Also, while i think SSR is beautiful but i do prefer the BCV/BWV locations better, but this was not the main reason of selling.

as other have said, there are various reasons.

How was the walk from SSR to DTD?

SSR is a BIG PLACE!!
Where i stayed twice is the Congress Park Building and the building is one of the closest to DTD as well as a nice view of DTD. It took about 10-15 mins leisure walk to the entrance. It has a paved sidewalk trail.
Also, It all depends where you are staying. You could be staying totally opposite on the other side which i believe they may have a boat to DTD, but i am not sure. Someone else may have better info on that.
I am not sure when they are going to complete the phases of SSR but i know they are building another main pool as well as a Kiddy waterpark like pool also.
If i happened to owned the resort outright, i wouldn't have sold it since i think it is a beautiful place. (even stayed at the Grand Villa one week 2 years ago!!) To me, the only downside is, that this resort is the furthest away from all 4 parks (or is OKW further, not sure on that one) and you have to rely on bussing or your car for transportation to the parks but you do have the advantage to be close to DTD. There pro's and con's to every DVC resort and everyone sees' it differently.

When we bought in again on Tuesday, our guide reminded us that some DVC owners are always looking for the newest thing. Such folks might be selling to get AKL villas. When we bought originally in 2000 we had BWV points and then had a VWL addon. I know a lot of those were up for resale when BCV went up for sale.
