Why so many horrible reviews on trip planner for DLH?

I stayed at the DLH 8 years ago and it was horrid. We arrived at 6 pm and checked into a room that had not been cleaned yet. We then sat in the lobby for an HOUR waiting for them to clean it. We were not given an apology or anything. We ordered room service. The champagne was warm and the fried mozzarella was cold. I opened the armoire and the door fell halfway off because the hinge was broken.

It went on and on. By the time we checked out it had been so awful that the manager refunded us one of our four nights room rate.

To be fair, that was during the awful management phase. It was also the only trip I've ever taken to DL and seen trash on the ground and dirty bathrooms- and CMs not smiling all over the park. I am told that the hotel has made a real turnaround and am considering giving it a chance for a short trip (2 or 3 days- not a full week).
 
I always post on Trip advisor after i travel. I enjoy the site. I am not a DLH fan (maybe too budget conscious?). My gripes with the hotel are valid, and things they could easily change ie stock towels that are at least as nice as i use in my rag bag!
I am happy so many people enjoy the resort, and It does have many good things in it's favor.......I just don't feel it is the right choice for my family when there are so many other choices!
