The prices of delux are crazy!!.. You can stay cheaper at Caesers Palace in Las vegas than what it would cost you to stay at Contemp resort. At least in vegas you get free booze and eat reasonably well for little money.

No kidding, I live in Vegas, so I've been spoiled. Nice rooms that would be considered deluxe at Disney with inexpensive prices, rooms that go for what a fraction that Disney would charge, with better service to boot. My family has stayed at all levels in Disney, and we were frankly shocked by the crappiness of the deluxe hotels. When you stay club/concierge level at a deluxe Disney hotel, or heck, ANY hotel, you should NEVER come back to a dirty room with no toilet paper, and then get an attitude from the staff because you called them out on it.

I'm very interested in these Universal hotels that everyone is raving about and might give them a whirl next time in Florida. I love the perks of staying onsite at Disney, but my family has been burned big time at the deluxes. If we stay onsite at Disney again, it will probably be at a value or, depending on the time of year and crowd (ex. Pop Warner, Brazillian Tour Group high season) a mod.

DVC was the only way we could stay deluxe on a Fireman/Nurse salary. So we bought points, prior to that it was only values for our stays.
