Why so crowded on SuperBowl Sunday?

TP is predicting large crowds that day. Why is that?
I've been in WDW on SuperBowl Sunday and it was super quiet. EasyWDW gave all 4 parks green on that day. What's the difference with the west coast?

Everyone here in Phoenix is escaping the madness and going to Disneyland for the weekend :lmao:

Seriously, a lot of people are doing it. We were going to (I like 4 miles from University of Phoenix Stadium) but my husband has duty that weekend. So I'm hunkering down and hiding

WDW is a destination. DLR is a park in the middle of a city... so when all the locals aren't interested in the Super Bowl (or any other thing!), they head to Disneyland.

Because they do not know what they are doing at DLR and their predictions are not just incorrect, but flawed in methodology.

I hope the crowd predictors are wrong. We are going. We have gone in the past And it has been empty. Hoping for the same this time!

The crowds usually aren't really bad all day. People do go back to their hotels and head over to ESPN Zone for the game, then return to the parks for dinner and stay until later. We usually head for the parks on Super Bowl Sunday (not big football fans here) and don't encounter anything too unusual crowd-wise. It's certainly not as bad as the holiday season or any weekend during Halloween Time.

We wanted to go that day, too. But, we have a 9 month old. Measles for the win. Boo.

While I agree with you that TP predictions are horrible at best, I read these questions about Superbowl Sunday every year, and every year after the game there are reports about how slammed the park was.

I suspect that Superbowl Sunday can be crowded because Sundays are generally crowded and not everyone is going to be interested in the Superbowl.

I know there were reports from 2014 indicating that it was very busy (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3230845).

I agree with you you figment. While I would not miss the Superbowl, (even though I despise both teams playing this year, being a Broncos fan and having beefs with both teams) there is really a significant portion of the population that could care less about the game. Some just don't watch football at all, and others don't care if they don't have a dog in the fight.

And everyone thinks the same thing, that everyone will be home watching them game, so they go to DL thinking it will be empty. And from reports I read every year, it is very busy.

With the game starting at 3:30 in California, crowds may thin out in late afternoon.

I also think time zones could impact the difference in crowds at WDW and DLR. In Orlando, the game is at 4:30. That would be 7:30 in California making a trip to a park during the day more feasible.

No it wouldn't. The game kickoff is at 6:30 PM EST. That's 3:30 PM PST.

Fair enough. My point is I would not base anything on what TP says. Now basing something on what others here say is experience, that is something different.

I will pay more attention this year but I do not recall reports of DLR being slammed on Super Sunday.

There were a few reports (in one thread, linked upthread) that Super Sunday was pretty busy in 2014. I'm curious to hear what it is like this year...hopefully someone who goes will report back.
