Why Not Just Queue Up Another Disney Trip? Link to New TR 6/24 p136!

Way to use the FP!!! I love it when that happens. :woohoo:

Isn't that the best???? It seemed to happen a lot on this trip because so many were NOT using FPs, which makes absolutely no sense to me. :confused3 This was the strangest trip I have ever had in regards to FP use. Tons of people in the park and in the standby lines, but not utilizing FPs.

Fab safari pictures and I have only seen the Lion up once. BUt I keep going back and hoping it is different. Isn't that the definintion of insanity.

But when you DID see the lion you got a GREAT shot! I have been on the safari at least once every trip and I have yet to get a good picture of the lion. So frustrating! :headache:

2 LOS can knock you down. :lmao: I didi the same thing where I sucked on down because I was thristy and it was smooth going down. I had a second one and I needed to slow down for a little while. :lmao:

Tell me about it. That LOS just tasted so good and I was so thirsty. It went down much too easily and when I stood up I was like....Woooooooo! :rotfl:

How cool that the rhino was on the path! What a great opportunity for pics! Love the shots of the hippo, too.

It was pretty cool to see the rhino. It caused three vehicles to stop and I could see the drive in front of us on his radio. I guess they were all trying to get instructions on what to do.

The hippo was super cool. At first I had no idea what was swimming around and then everytime I would try for a picture I would miss him. Finally I just started taking pictures of the tank and I ended up finally getting the hippo in the shot!

Lilly is so adorable!

I love  Lilly. I saw her first the first time in May 2010 when she was just allowed out in public and I have been very fond of her ever since.

My best-ever day at AK was the only time I've ever stayed all the way til closing. Once I decided to do that, I was just so much more relaxed or something -- a better frame of mind for that park, don't you think?

I do! Once we decided to stay we did the same thing. We just sat and enjoyed the scenery and we stopped worrying about what we were going to do next. It really was a great way to spend the day and I'm so glad we decided to do it! :goodvibes

Oh my....I just loved this update. What great shots you got on safari (love the baby elephants) and you saw the cheetah and got a picture of him (her) too. :goodvibes

We missed the trail with the girls last month and I know they had wanted to do it, but we wanted to head over to Epcot and we ended up leaving (and as crowded as Epcot was, we should have stayed at AK).

What is in the Lost on Safari besides the juice? We had a drink there last month and I had their Pina Colada...but it was made with a different kind of rum....but it was very, very yummy (I could have had two ;)).

Nick did good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lily is so stinkin cute.

:thumbsup2 on Denny not loving his LOS but drinking one quickly could oh...disable one for a bit. As much the sugar in the juice as the alcohol for me!

Hahaha I can never get a good shot of the lion either! I either get a barely noticable patch of fur along the ground or a butt.

Your safari pics are great! I love that the rhino was just meandering along in your path! That's so funny when the animals do that.

How convenient that you were thirsty right around Dawa Bar...:rolleyes1:rotfl:. I completely forgot to suggest to DBF to try the Lost on Safari. He LOVES that juice!

Oh my....I just loved this update. What great shots you got on safari (love the baby elephants) and you saw the cheetah and got a picture of him (her) too. :goodvibes

Thank you for pointing out that that big cat is a cheetah, not a leopard. I guess a cheetah has smaller spots? :confused3 The baby elephants were super cool and they were quite a variety of sizes! It was Nick who found all these great animals! It was nice to relax while he was taking the pictures. :thumbsup2

It's so hard on a short trip to get everything in, isn't it? I am glad we decided to make a full day of AK. We spent way more time viewing animals then we ever had. It was great! :goodvibes

It is pangani juice. Wait here's a description I found

Lost On Safari
Lost On Safari (right) held it's own next to the margarita. The Pagani Punch consists of pineapple, orange, cranberry and strawberry juice. Mix that with Captain Spiced rum and that is one sharp tropical drink. Typical tropical drinks don't include strawberry juice, so that added a fresh, tart taste alongside the spiced rum. If you enjoy a simple rum & fruit juice drink, give this a try for a little more zip to the flavor.

I think it actually had light rum and Captain Morgan's in it.

Here's a great website I found this morning that had great drink descriptions and reviews:

http://www.partythroughtheparks.com/cocktail-photo-gallery/cocktail-photo-gallery/

This is a great website. I wonder if they have an iphone app?????

You should like this. Here's a recipe for a GGS

Nick did good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't he? I am so glad I released control and let him take pictures. When he was younger he always liked taking pictures on the safari and would beg for the camera.

This year he dropped French 4 to take the yearbook class so he gets to take pictures and design yearbook pages. It's pretty cool to see his designs and computer work.

Lily is so stinkin cute.

I love  Lily. I hope she always stay little!

:thumbsup2 on Denny not loving his LOS but drinking one quickly could oh...disable one for a bit. As much the sugar in the juice as the alcohol for me!

I'm so glad we had no immediate plans so I could just sit and chill. I was so disabled I didn't even get up and dance with the African dancers! :sad2:

Hahaha I can never get a good shot of the lion either! I either get a barely noticable patch of fur along the ground or a butt.

That sounds about right - I usually get a little patch of fur. I would love to just ONCE get the whole lion. If I ever do I am going to use it as my screen saver for life! I think Glenn has a really good lion picture. I am so jealous.

Your safari pics are great! I love that the rhino was just meandering along in your path! That's so funny when the animals do that.

Nick took all the safari pictures and I think he did a great job! :thumbsup2 The rhino incident was pretty cool. What would they do if he just refused to move???? That would be crazy!

How convenient that you were thirsty right around Dawa Bar...:rolleyes1:rotfl:. I completely forgot to suggest to DBF to try the Lost on Safari. He LOVES that juice!

Very convenient, I would say! I have always wanted to try a LOS, but I am never over there in the afternoon. I finally go my chance. It's yummy because you really don't taste the alcohol! :rolleyes1 Not sure if that's good or bad!

Awesome safari pics (and commentary!)
I can't believe the hippo was actually swimming. I've never seen them move. I usually spend forever staring into that pool at the fish though, I have many of those guys in my tank here at home so it's fun to pick out the different species.
Lily is sooooooo cute!!!

Thanks, especially coming from you since you take fabulous pictures and actually know what you are doing!

That hippo swimming was actually one of the coolest things I have ever seen. I had no idea they could move that fast. He was really booking. I took a bunch of pics that didn't come out because I kept missing him.

I would love to have a real fish tank. I do have a freshwater tank - with one 4 1/2 year old goldfish. I'm going to cry when he dies! One of Nick's friends threw in a 1/2 can of fish food and almost assassinated him. I had no idea why there was suddenly this big bacteria bloom in the tank and it took a lot of maintenance to get that tank back to normal. I'd like to add a couple more fish but don't want another to throw him off kilter. Someday I experiment with other fish and perhaps a larger tank.

I  Lilly!

Nick did a nice job with the safari pics :thumbsup2

Lily is so cute! We've never seen her so I hope we catch a glimpse of her on our trip :)

Sounds like you were having a great day! :goodvibes

Those fish in with the hippos are called African cichlids and they're surprisingly easy to keep, if you get a good mix! They're freshwater and tropical. Pretty neat, I have some (google Ps. Acei "Tanzania Black") I call my purple puppies, they act like puppies and will chase me around the tank and jump out of the water for food, nibble my hands when I'm doing maintenance. They just had 17 babies too
Goldfish can have a really long life span I think, like 10-15 years! They're so hardy too, and can deal with bacteria blooms (and the preceding ammonia spike!) better than some fish.

Anyway, I'm finished hijacking your thread now! :rolleyes1

Tell Nick that he did a great job on the safari pics! I love it when you go on the safari and there are lots of animals roaming around. Oh and don't feel bad about not getting a good lion or lioness picture. I haven't gotten one yet. :headache:

Awww, you got to see Lily! Apparently, on our last trip, she wasn't out and about so we didn't get to see her. She looks so cute!

Hi Mary Ellen! Sorry I've missed the last couple of updates. Things have been crazy here and I haven't been on the DIS much. I'm all caught up now and I love your AK pictures! Even if you couldn't find the animatronic sleeping lion.

Great safari pictures - tell Nick he did a good job! I always think we're going too fast to get good ones. Unless a Rhino is in the road! Once we had a giraffe walk in front of us.

Lost on Safari is my kind of drink. I will be getting one next time I go to AK.

Koodos to Nick for some great shots! That rhino had some fun in the mud earlier. :) I think they are just so cool.

I would have been mesmerized by the hippo also. It's almost a good thing they don't have many seats on the trails because I would just sit and gaze forever sometimes. Well, sometimes I do anyway...

That Jungle Juice is so delicous :cloud9:

I also have a gold fish that I'm quite attached to, name of Geraldine, she's about 3 years old. And I did cry when another one died. I don't know what it is, I'm just a big softy.

Nick did a nice job with the safari pics :thumbsup2

Thanks! I love the way Nick's pictures turned out and I loved that I sat back and relaxed and put my obsession with the camera away for awhile!

Lily is so cute! We've never seen her so I hope we catch a glimpse of her on our trip :)

I so hope you guys find her. I'm so glad I asked a CM where she was. I may have walked right by her because she was pretty far back from the edge of the trail.

Sounds like you were having a great day! :goodvibes

It was such a fun day! I'm glad we decided to open and close the park. I've never done that before and it was the perfect day to do it. :goodvibes

Have an awesome trip Dawn & Caitlin!!!!!! 24 hours from now! :cool1: Woo Hoo!

That is so interesting. They are such beautiful fish. That's what I need - an easy fish to take care of. So cute that they act like that when its time to be fed and I can't believe they had THAT many babies.

How big is your tank? I only have a 20 gal starter tank. I got it for Nick originally, but he lost interest. I did a lot of reading to learn how to maintain. It actually took my tank about 6 weeks to cycle originally because I bought the gold fish and THEN read about cycling. DOH! I would change my water every three days because the ammonia spikes were so bad. But I kept all 3 goldfish alive a long time. The smaller ones just died in the last year. I read that goldfish need something like 5 - 10 galloons of water each. Is that true.

Anyway, I'm finished hijacking your thread now! :rolleyes1

Totally NOT a hijack because I am very interested in fish and I would like to add one or two to my tank. Any suggestions what I should buy?

Tell Nick that he did a great job on the safari pics! I love it when you go on the safari and there are lots of animals roaming around. Oh and don't feel bad about not getting a good lion or lioness picture. I haven't gotten one yet. :headache:

Thanks. I will tell him. I thought the variety of animals was really good. I know I've not taken any pictures of warthogs that were that close before.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who keeps missing the lion. Epic fail!

Awww, you got to see Lily! Apparently, on our last trip, she wasn't out and about so we didn't get to see her. She looks so cute!

She is adorable. I saw her in May 2010 when she was a baby and its so cool to see her as she grows. Its really one of the things I love about Disney. To so many people she is just another gorilla, but to me she is Lilly and I will always check in on her whenever I am there.

Hi Mary Ellen! Sorry I've missed the last couple of updates. Things have been crazy here and I haven't been on the DIS much. I'm all caught up now and I love your AK pictures! Even if you couldn't find the animatronic sleeping lion.

No worries Mark. I know from FB that you have had a lot going on. I hope Julie's mom is recuperating. I didn't do much FB today.

That is totally what they need - an animatronic lion! :rotfl: Splendid idea. You need to contact someone at AK and tell them! ;)

Great safari pictures - tell Nick he did a good job! I always think we're going too fast to get good ones. Unless a Rhino is in the road! Once we had a giraffe walk in front of us.

Thanks! I am very proud of Nick's pictures. He did good! :)

That was probably pretty cool to have to stop for a giraffe. I wonder if a drive has ever accidently hit an animal. :confused3 It seems like it could happen. I wouldn't want to be a driver. It doesn't look as easy as some of the other Disney jobs.

Lost on Safari is my kind of drink. I will be getting one next time I go to AK.

It is quite yummy. Definitely gets my seal of approval! :thumbsup2

Koodos to Nick for some great shots! That rhino had some fun in the mud earlier. :) I think they are just so cool.

Thanks! I am so pleased with Nick's shots. I really didn't even do much cropping. Pretty much just edited color!

I would have been mesmerized by the hippo also. It's almost a good thing they don't have many seats on the trails because I would just sit and gaze forever sometimes. Well, sometimes I do anyway...

:rotfl: Yeah - I hear ya! I could have hung out watching that hippo forever. I wonder how long he actually continued doing the same circle? It was really cool.

That Jungle Juice is so delicous :cloud9:

Especially with a little Captain Morgans and white rum! :rotfl:

I also have a gold fish that I'm quite attached to, name of Geraldine, she's about 3 years old. And I did cry when another one died. I don't know what it is, I'm just a big softy.

It's just sad when they die because I swear mine gets all excited when I go over to feed him. I never named him because I was certain his was going to die in the first two weeks and I didn't want to get attached. I guess its probably too late to name him now. :rotfl:

17 babies is actually pretty low for these guys, it was this mom's first time. Usually they have 20-50 but I have one female who has 90-100 every two months!

I have a 20 gallon (guppies), 30 gallon (baby fish) and 55 gallon (my Africans) freshwater and a 32 gallon and a 50 gallon saltwater. :scared1: lmao, I love it. I had fish for probably 8 years before I learned about the ammonia cycle, so you're way ahead of me! Hahaha, of course I was 8 years old when I first got fish and there was no internet! :lmao:

90- 100 babies! :faint: What do you do with them? Do you sell them to a fish store. How fascinating that must be to see baby fish born every month or so. Wow! Great hobby!

That is quite the array of tanks. Very cool! :thumbsup2

Yes, I agree -- Nick did a great job taking pictures! :thumbsup2

Did you see on the news recently that a couple gorillas escaped from their enclosure at a zoo? After seeing those big boys along the Pangani trail, could you imagine that? :scared1:

What that hippo was doing, swimming up to the window and then disappearing, sounded really cool. Kudos to you for moving along so others could see....I hate it when people hog the spot at the window for a long time.

We had a rhino do that on the safari once too! We got all backed up as well because no one could drive past.

I will have to try that drink you got. I love jungle juice! I also like *ahem* libations with some kick.

Thanks! I love the pictures he took. I think I will give him more photography duties in June! Maybe Nick can be my personal photopass guy!

:scared1:OMG! That would be SO scary. I can't even imagine coming face to face with a real live gorilla! Yikes! I'm actually surprised they don't lose any animals at AK. That must be a hell of an inventory every day!

That was just the craziest thing. I guess the rhinos don't really care, which is a good thing because I would hate to anger one of them! :rotfl: That would NOT be good!

This was a nice drink, but I read on that Party in the Parks website that the Harambe Cooler is the one that really packs a punch because its made with African star rum. I guess that's some strong, dark rum. I think I may need to try that next time! :rolleyes1

How many people would approach the gorilla wanting a picture and thinking it was someone in costume! YIKES! Oh well, you can't idiot-proof the world! :rolleyes1
