Why not expand?

I have never seen 10. Not once. I'm sure people will get on here to share their examples of a bunch of cockroaches crammed into a site
We have had 9 with a motorhome and a tent when family joined us. But you would not know it by looking at the campsite. Most of the day, everyone is off doing something away from the site. And when they do come back, they are usually tired and reasonably quiet with a lighter wallet. :)

Roaches only come once a year. And they have dishwashers.

Tallis, the big group across from us for a week in 1500 one time had their own chest freezer outside in front of the pop-up (two tents also). They fed their group with military precision.

So besides dishwashers, they bring their freezers too.

PS - and so as not to get too far off-topic, I don't think expansion is in the cards for the Fort. In fill, maybe. Convert loops to more expensive designation, maybe. We'll be lucky to hold onto what we have. It appears we have dodged the Reflections build out for a little while....

Any cash Disney has right now will not go towards The Fort. Once they figure this Covid thing out, they are going to market and advertise until we can't stand it, with any cashflow they produce.

I'm really trying to emotionally distance myself from the Fort, especially ... but WDW in general. I do fear losing the Fort. I personally feel it will be a few years for any resemblance or normalcy comes back. In the meantime, WDW needs to make the big bucks where they can, since they have limited park capacity.

It's the fault of the trailer/rv salespeople and marketing material that pushes the "10" number. Or higher. Here's an example:

Florida Camper Rentals Website Link

This vendor lists capacities greater than 10 people (not that FW will up their upper limit number).

Yeah we all know that would be sleeping on any surface in the camper that can be made horizontal and laying shoulder to shoulder. But it can be done.

That many is rare. MOST campgrounds do not allow that, 6 is average amount to every campground I go to. Also they limit the amount of cars which for 14 you would need multiple vehicles or 10. If you are packing in 10 people that are not immediate family you should take up another site. You would have more cars etc. I've been RVing for 20 years and I've never see any campground allow what they do at WDW as far as amount of people, tents, etc. We're going overnight tomorrow to a KOA, 6 limit and they are not allowing tenters or having anything open, but it's beautiful on a river, quiet, easy to stay away from others. Especially now with Covid they need to make changes hopefully permanent changes.

I initially agreed with this comment about never seeing a campground allow that many people. I must say, though, I've never seen a limit per se. I have seen additional fees or charges for more than 4 or more than 6, but that serves to cover the increased cost of water, electricity and sewer maintenance rather than discourage large groups. I've never seen a not-to-exceed number of campers. I wonder what the local fire marshal would allow. The placarded number of sleeping accommodations? Is that based on available emergency exits (windows) in the RV?

I would rather be at the Fort with 10 campers at every site, than a KOA.

Sorry my post went over your head. Maybe not taking a sentence out of context might help too hehe. Yeah I would rather be at the Fort too than a KOA any day of the week even with their 10. I think everyone would. Probably why WDW gets away with allowing that many, people still go and put up with things that other campgrounds even a mediocre KOA that was my point, do not do. Unfortunately for a quick overnight the Fort is 1100 miles from me and this KOA is an hour, and is a good place to social distance also, large private sites, not crowded. Florida isn't a place I would want to be right now anyway.

I am actually amazed that Disney has not floated a DVC style campground. I'm not sure if I would be for or against it . But for the same reason that DVC resorts are loved by Disney, (money up front), I would guess that a lot of people would sign on. I know I would check it out.

That could be heavenly! A few loops dedicated to DVC type ownership. Something to ponder.

I won't ponder, I just ate.

Most CG I've been to do not post limits, they charge extra per person. Not all of them though. Gulf State Park, one several of us are familiar with, has a limit of 8. None of the Corp of Engineeres properties I've been on had limits.

As far as number of vehicles needed to have that many folks on a site, FW has the overflow lot but they also have free Magical Express transport from the airport so no vehicle needed.

Yes! nomorethan8 They should indeed add on a few loops for DVC and I'll bet you they'd sell fast!

Target those big rig owners. I've been to many places that sell "rv timeshares" it's not that uncommon.

Who would be the target customers for DVC campsites?
For one thing, the Fort has one thing that something that the Riviera does not have. It has a nearly a 50 year history of "Raving Fans" (to steal a term from an old book). We see it on this board alone. People have their emotions moved by the Fort which eliminates some of the anxiety that accompanies a DVC purchase. As Boopuff said, I would think it would be a big rig owner they might target, whom we all know, have the constant case of upgrade-itis. They spend money. If you put a few loops in with sites with special upgrades that differentiate from the rest of the Fort, I too believe it would sell relatively easy. And if they sell 50 year leases, your guaranteeing that the Fort will be around for at least that long for the current loops. IMHO.
