Just back from a very last minute (and wonderful) stay at BLT. It was my 5th stay here since it opened and I love this place (and the location).
But, of all the DVC resorts (speaking of the location and the design of the resort ) - WHY ON EARTH are there still no sheers in the windows!!
The layout of this resort is such that you can see right across into the other rooms (on the inside curve) and those traveling by monorail can see directly into the rooms on the outside curve. I mean you can really see inside the rooms - not just a little bit. I hate having to keep the black out curtains drawn all the time if I don't want the kids and I walking around in our nighties (and whatnot) to be visible to all. It just makes no sense to me!! Every time I return I think "surely they've put up sheers by now"!! What do you think is the logic of this??
I cannot honestly think of one other resort, hotel or even a roadside motel where I have not had sheers in the windows.
PS: love everything else about BLT - the black furniture is taking quite a beating and shows every speck of dust through the week, but we knew that was coming the first time we saw they made that decision.
ALL of the CMs at this resort, from the front desk, housekeeping, bell services, pool and Kids Club continue to ROCK!! They are awesome!

Cost, DVD cuts cost where ever they can. BLT suffered from sink issues, HVAC issues, plumbing issues, door lock issues, blinds on the patio door issues, shower water valve issues, missing towel hooks and soap dishes, quality of furnishings, quality of cabinet work and are we missing a fan somewhere? The missing sheers have been brought up several times and member satisfaction says that the will make note of our concerns.

I agree 100%. You can contact Member Services & let them know. BLT needs sheer curtains in all rooms. They could start with lower floors & inside curve rooms & then add in other rooms. I hope someday it actually happens.....

I wonder what custom sheers will cost us owners at BLT, purchasing, installation, cleaning, maintenance. Just add it to our yearly 6% plus dues increases all because DVD didn't install them when they built the place.

Good point!

I love so many things about BLT, but the lack of sheers drives me crazy!

Plus the afternoon sun is also very hot at BLT. They installed sheers in the lobby because of the morning sun and heat, plus darkened the windows a little. You either have to sit in the dark, or turn on the lights. So the resort is saving money by not adding sheers, but using more Air conditioning and electricity instead.

I am amazed at how much can be seen into the rooms in the evenings. Definitely no privacy on Theme Park side or lake side and people don't seem to know or care. As a BLT owner, I wish they would add the sheers.

It and a few other items are something I contacted member satisfaction about after my first stay in early 2010. Sheers, bar soap holders in the studio bathrooms, full length mirrors in the studios and the bathroom sink in the kitchenette. I guess 50% correction so far isn't too bad with the bonus of the locks on the bathroom doors which were a problem for many people. I had one of the lovely TPV studios on the 4th floor just to the right of the bridge. I either had to close the darkening curtains and sit in a cave or wave to everyone who walked across the bridge and looked in.

The reasons why are just a guess but my thoughts were that either the designer just completely overlooked many of the basic features in their attempt to design something "different" or they were all items that DVC figured they could save some money by skipping. They've paid the price to add the mirrors and change the sinks. My hope is that we will see sheers added when BLT gets it's first rehab since so far it hasn't happened although IMO it should have by now. The cost when spread out over all the points and the many years of accumulation for refurbs would be minimal.

We don't own at BLT, but on a recent stay one thing I noticed was that the stacked washer/dryer area was really dark and needs some type of lightning. We loved the unit......and had a magnificent view!......but found the lighting to be rather dim. I'm not a fan of stacked washers/dryers in general because I'm rather short and can't really see into the dryer :rolleyes2, although the convenience far outweighs those minor details.

Whatever it costs to add the sheers, put me down as a yes vote and add it to dues. I think it's worth it.
