I just read that there won't be anymore character dinner at LTT; why???:confused3 We ate there last trip and loved it; the tables weren't on top of one another and wasn't as loud as CM's or CP. We also loved the sit down service. This seriously limits MK character dining.

There are about 50 different threads on this already.I think the fact that as of now you have character dining at CRT,CP,LTT is why. This currently leaves only Tonys and the Plaza as full TS restaurants with no characters. Not everyone wants to dine with the characters all the time, and though it is always sad when disney makes a change like this ,it may not necessarily be so bad.

Also you could also say that in the MK area you also have Chef Mickey's (Contemporary), Ohanas (for breakfast at Polynesian) and 1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian). They are all within easy reach of MK itself. So it's not like there is a sudden lack of character dining.

It would be interesting to know what Disney's real reason is. Perhaps they wanted to free up the characters to be used elsewhere in the parks themselves, rather than in the restaurants?

Those who know don't tell, those who tell don't know. ;)

The cynical among us believe it is a purely financial move: costs go down (no having to pay Entertainment for characters/handlers), and revenues go up (tables will turn faster if folks don't linger for "one more character").

I just wish Stouffer's would stop sponsoring the place. It's a great location with a cozy atmosphere. I hope the food quality changes soon!

$$$$$$$$ - The reason any change happens at WDW.

They probably have done surveys and got some results showing people would like more choices for non-character dining in / around MK - and it costs them less to have non-character dining. (Don't have the pay the CM characters for the time, and shorter turnaround times on the customers.) There are an awful lot of Mickey-centric character meals around property, so that one probably made the most sense.

The only time we dine at LTT is when we attend MNSSHP. We will miss the characters, but it won't keep us away.

LOL :rotfl2: Thanks for the great input. I liked the food there except for the Stouffer's mac and cheese:crazy2: , which of course is my kids absolute fav. Go figure; kids taste are unexplainable.:confused3

Ya know. I disagree with the people lingering thing. Has Jim Hill eaten at a character meal lately? If anything the rush of characters speeds up the meal.

the last time I ate at CP, the character hurried around the room. When they were done, nobody said anything - but the serious vibe was that the meal was over and it was time to go. The characters were only out for a rather short time.

Moreover, with the characters coming around, you don't take time to enjoy your meal or linger between course like you do at normal TS locations. You rush to eat before the next character comes. You rush over to grab dessert between characters.

The characters are a serious diversion on the amount of food you eat the buffets. Seriously. I know I eat less at character buffets than I would at a non-character buffet.

It's not like the characters really take time to interact with guests. It's snap-sign- GONE! If you don't have your signature book open to the right page - forget it! If your camera isn't ready - forget it!

I say-out with the old and in the with the new....lets see what Disney comes up with next. They need to change things up so we'll keep coming back....:goodvibes

I do agree that when I am at a character buffet, I constantly feel rushed:crazy2: . I have to try to run up to the buffet and get food for me and my kids and hope to make it back to the table in time to catch the characters. This is why I much prefer character meals that are sit-down/served meals; I don't feel so harried:offtopic:

We were there for dinner last September and witnessed 'Goofy' trip over a stair and fall - and injure himself. (We accidentally have it on film - we thought it was part of the act) After that occurred - I looked around the restaurant...and it occurred to me how difficult it must be to maneuver around that restaurant as a character. Some many different levels with stairs...etc.

I'm saddened to see the characters go for the dinner - but part of me was happy to see it - after seeing Goofy injured...I think there's perhaps other restaurants that would be more conducive to Characters.
