Why make us wait for resort discounts???

I don't understand why, if we are supposed to plan enough ahead to know where we are going to EAT 180 days ahead of time, why we can't plan on where we are going to SLEEP 180 days ahead of time?

It would be so nice to know room discounts at the same time, as it matters what resort I will book if there is Free Dining, a certain % off of room only ressies, or any other discount that they may offer.

And I know that I can book a room and a discount will be applied once it's offered...and I know that Disney doesn't have to give us discounts but it's nice that they do.

But it would just be nice to have things locked in, especially something as big of a deal as the resort, KWIM?

I think it is because they want to see how many rooms they can fill without a discount. Then, once they see how many rooms are booked, they can decide if they want to offer a discount and, if so, how deep they want to go. 20% off? 40% off? Free dining? Kids free? The more rooms they need to fill, the better the discount is likely to be.

Mikeheidi2,

I agree with you 100%..it is so frustrating. We booked in Oct of last year for Sept of this year, hoping free dining would come out.

Again I am with you in the understanding that WDW does not have to give us a discount, and if they are not let us know that too....you also make a great point about the 180 day ADRS.

Sending pixie dust your way hoping you get what you are wishing for.

bingo
plus the farther out they release a discount the more who get in on it
some people will book and then a discount will be released and they will not have their res adjusted because they may not know

but have to have reservations to book ressies 180 days out.. there was free dining until September 29. 2012 but we are watching for late October early November to come out

See my theory is different. I think that Disney should offer FD discounts or room discounts like 6-8 months in advance and only leave the booking window open for 2 months and then if you miss out, you didnt do your research. That way you have plenty of time to pay:) But in reality, I know that wont happen ....its nice to dream though:)

Mommyof3.....that is freaking BRILLIANT!!! Gosh, I sure hope someone from Disney is reading this, lol.

And the only reason I'm grumpy is that it's my turn next for the discounts to be announced, as we're going the first week in November and the rumors are that it's coming SOON, just not soon enough, IMHO :rotfl:

Yea Im waiting :badpc: we are going right after Thanksgiving.... I was hoping for something tomorrow!

I agree totally. We are looking for ANY discount for 10 days in end of October. I went ahead and booked all my ADRs, because I saw how September had no ADRs available. I have dates picked, with some flexibility. Now have to wait and see if they give us a discount....if not, cancel the ADRs and start over.

Mommyof3.....We were going to go the week after TG'ing too, but I looked at my work schedule and I just couldn't do it. I own a bakery and Christmas time, starting the end of November, is my busiest. It was a huge toss up though since my dh gets a four day weekend for TG'ing so we would have had even more days at Disney. Maybe one day.....But going the first week of November isn't so bad either, at least it's three weeks sooner, AND we'll get to experience the F&WF. And did I mention it's three weeks sooner, LOL!!!

Where are you staying? I'm torn between AKL and POFQ, depending what discounts are offered.

Im staying at POR in a Royal Guest Room:wizard: I love POR. Iv never stayed at AKL or POFQ-driven through it on the bus though and it looks lovely! One day Ill get to AKL-when I get a 35% off PIN :rotfl2:

Discounts are not offered to make our lives as easy as possible. They are offered to fill rooms they couldn't fill, or didn't anticipate filling, at full price. I'd LOVE to have free dining for December. But I'm really not expecting an early offer. (Once again, I hope I'm wong here). But I think they are hoping the Fantasyland Expansion will fill as many of those rooms as possible without the discounts. Only time will tell.

So I was sort of expecting a waiting game.

I agree they wait to see how many rooms need to be filled. If lots of rooms are booked already, then they won't offer a deal.

Sitting hear reading this thread and what comes on the television but a Disney commercial with the current deals and flashing book by June 14

I kinda think we will see the resort and ticket prices for 2013 being released and then once the promos ending June 14, we will see FD for the remainder of 2012 announced

I wish they would offer discounts earlier but doubt that will ever happen given the popularity of the latter part of the year Oct - Dec they know people will book without discounts
