Why is this kid calling me 'Mom'?

I love her, she's a little doll. She's not mine though.

This is my DD's best friend that we only see every other weekend when her father has visitation. Then the two kids are inseparable. The girl never never called me anything up until now, just comes over and looks at me if she needs something. LOL. Now she's calling me Mom today, same as DD. (Which has been about every 15 minutes today.)

No big deal...right? Or is it. Just wondering.

all of my friends called my mother mom too.

I called my best friend's mother Mom, she also called my mother Mom. It was easier than saying the whole name (both of us had long names, mine Italian, hers Jewish).

I wouldn't worry about it unless she ends up moving her stuff over permanently.

a lot of kids get confused also, when they are younger they just assume that all adult women are called Mom, when my cousins were younger they referred to all adults as the parents even if they weren't, they just didn't understand and assumed

This girl is 7, a very young seven. She's best friends with my 5-year-old, and her twin brother is friends with my DD7.

I would not worry about that....I would actually probally take it as a compliment...at that age it is probally just fun to her.

hee-hee - my older son's friends have been calling me "Mom" for years (these guys are now 22 years old!) I love bumping into one of them w/o my son along, and having them call me "Mom". Makes me feel special, and they all have their own Moms (& all on good terms.)

Didn't you know? When someone elses kid calls you mom you now belong to The Mom Hall of Fame.
It is definetly a compliment.

I would think of it as a compliment, I am sure she does not think you are her mom

My best friend calls my mom "mom." In fact she calls everyones mom "mom"
