Why Is Tangled So Popular?!

for me it's super cute really funny and just a great movie. it's not too girly either. my bf even liked it. :thumbsup2 plus i've always been a mandy moore fan. and Rapunzel and Flynn are just adorable

I actually thought it was not on par quality-wise with other Disney or Pixar movies. It seemed like a rushed job to me. A little boring. I do want to watch it again though in case I have a change of heart. I wanted to love it so badly.

And on the other spectrum, The Princess and the Frog amazed me! I really thought I would hate it so I waited for it to come out on DVD before watching it but I loved it. It was refreshing to see a neat modern twist on the story.

This! :thumbsup2

I love Rapunzel's independence! Plus, that lantern scene makes me tear up every time. It's beautiful. :cloud9:

And I have to admit it's probably my son's second favorite Disney movie (Alladin being his first). Personally, I think he likes it because of the frying pan weaponry. I see him eyeing my cast iron skillet every now and then when his sister gets on his nerves.

I always tear up at the lantern scene as well!! :cool1:

My dd loves it. She goes through being obsessed with different movies and for a while Tangled was it. But, it's the only one that my ds doesn't groan at watching. He thinks it's hilarious. He fell out of his seat laughing at the short before Beauty and the Beast 3D.

My whole family loves Tangled. I find myself singing the songs a lot. Happy ending, funny, charming characters, exciting... My son loves Flynn and the exciting adventure of it, my girls love Rapunzel, her hair, Pascal and her frying pan (who knew, right?)

WE all love it too. I think it's a little bit of everything everyone else mentioned.

Cute characters, pretty animation, sweet story, and I love the music-very classic Disney movie, IMO.

I love tangled. that being said, its probably so popular because its recent. Each time disney has a new movie out, i feel like i see its merchandise EVERYWHERE. itll probably remain popular until a few more disney movies come out.

on a side note, i love love love tangled and princess and the frog. the animation brings me back to my childhood. i may be in the minority, but give me a classically animated disney movie over pixar anyday.

I am completely and 100% in love with this movie. We waited over an hour with our less than 2 yo toddler to meet Rapunzel because MOMMY wanted to!

Love the music
Love the animation
Love Purple
Love the humor

I've watched Tangled a million times-- it's my favorite movie-- and the animation simply takes my breath away. Everything is so close to real, and yet still adorably animated.

I think a lot of people in the world can relate to the controlling "mother", too. That relationship is so perfectly balanced... she is evil, and yet you can see why Rapunzel feels torn by her.

The storytelling is perfect as well... there isn't one time where something happens and you're like, "uh, why?" Rapunzel sacrifices herself, and Flynn sacrifices himself, for each other, their "new dream," which proves how much they care for each other. It is nice that it isn't the man just risking his life for the woman. And it has a happy ending where all the bad guys get what they deserve and the good guys get exactly what they always dreamed of....

The songs are beautiful. I also cry whenever that scene with the lanterns comes on.

Okay, yeah, I just have a crush on Flynn.

My son who is 11 was the one that talked and talked about this movie and then when we went to Disneyland last year he forced us to watch it. I loved it! I think it's so nice to have a new princess and she is adorable. The music is excellent and my 13 year old performs songs from the movie. It is all around good movie. And, for the little ones, it's the hair.

I'm a 38 year old Dad who took my (then) 4 year old daughter to see Tangled when it was in theaters. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more :)

We'll be at WDW in early May and will definitely be making the dash to get in line for Rapunzel! Can't wait until I see my daughter meet her!

For those who really enjoyed the movie, I highly recommend the book "The Art of Tangled". Very detailed (over 150 pages) with tons of sketches and illustrations on all that went into creating the sets and the characters you see on the screen. It gives you a greater appreciation of the movie and would be a wonderful addition to your library for all you Tangled lovers out there.

What's the deal with the Tangled popularity??? I mean, it's a nice movie and I DO like it, I'm just SUPER curious to why it was(and still is so)popular?! I'm not hating, I'm just wondering.:goodvibes

Because it is the second best Disney animated feature behind Beauty & the Beast and certainly the best in many years...

For me it's the fact that Rapunzel being a girl was the hero of the movie instead of the guy.

While Rapunzel has a bit of an edge, I would say it's more balanced than most of the Princess films. Flynn is an interesting guy, and he sacrifices himself for her, showing how much he's grown.

I think a lot of people in the world can relate to the controlling "mother", too. That relationship is so perfectly balanced... she is evil, and yet you can see why Rapunzel feels torn by her.

:thumbsup2

Yep. One of the most subtle and well-done Disney villains ever. Also one of the best motivated.

But the real appeal is totally the horse. :upsidedow

"bepunzel" is my DD's favourite movie at the moment - she is 3. Her favourite saying is "you broke my smoulder!". We have tangled on at least twice a week in my house ;)

Actually I really like it too, the songs are catchy and Maximus is just hilarious :rotfl:

Claire :)

For me it's the fact that Rapunzel being a girl was the hero of the movie instead of the guy. No prince had to wake her up with true loves kiss, or get her voice back with love and a kiss. It's the same reason I like Beauty and Beast. In the end it's the chic that saves the guy. In Tangled, Rapunzel made things happen for herself. Despite her circumstances she made the best of what she had and when she got the opportunity she thought of a way to get out. Sure she had Flynn take her to see the lights but most of the time she was the one getting him out of trouble. It also helps that IMHO it's funny. I'm not picking on other Disney movies, I love them all, but Tangled is my fav.

Agreed!

I also love Pascal :lovestruc oh and Flynns gots a personality, the films got it's funny moments too & let's not forget the frying pan.

To top it off where else would a ceramic unicorn collector get a mention?

I've literally just finished watching this film :goodvibes
