Why is SSR so much less to buy??

I don't think that's correct. I believe it's less points to stay at SSR.

MG

You are correct, it is cheaper. For larger units it can make a significant difference. Plus the Treehouse villas are a great deal for a large group.

I also believe the new pool at SSR will make the resort more desirable. I don't know if it will drive up the price, but it will be a great amenity and probably the 2nd best pool in DVC.

SHHHHH!! Don't tell everyone my secret!! :rolleyes1 I think Saratoga is the best resort. We love it! I'd much rather stay there than Animal Kingdom Villas, or Bay Lake Tower. Now... sure, I'm a Turn-of-the -Century charm type of gal, so BLT is too chrome for me! AKV is nice, but unless you take the suckie view, its pretty pricey pointswise. We have never stayed at BCV, but hoping to get it for this summer. Its got the same turn-of-the-century charm that I like, plus its got a great pool, although its more points than SSR. Boardwalk I'd probably like if we stayed in a garden view room. I think boardwalk view might be too much action for my taste (read noisey). The maniacal clown pool though....:scared:it scares me!! It will be nice when SSR builds that new feature pool... all the more it'll take the crowds away from my quiet pool. I also love the way you can walk to downtown Disney. Its a nice walk around the lake, and the boat ride up to OKW and PO is very enjoyable. At least BCV and BWV also enjoy a nice walk around the lake and to EPCOT and DHS. You can't walk anywhere from AKV.. not even the AK park!

I bet Disney Development has a formula for deciding which price contracts they'll ROFR.

Good luck and enjoy your new membership!

we bought a re-sale at ssr having never stayed there. We visited the pool/resort for a day last trip while we were staying at okw. We didn't like it at all. I am glad we didn't book....that being said I would take ssr over a regular hotel room at wdw. ssr at this point would be my last choice as a resort to stay. I am happy with my purchase. We have stayed at okw a couple times. We were booked into blt but mnsshp started later than planned so when I moved ressie I ended up at akv. Akv is another one I visited and didn't love so maybey we are just okw lovers :)

I'm curious as to what it was about SSR that you didn't like? We stayed at OKW once. My son flat out didn't like it. I liked the resort, but for me, there was a few things I didn't like. It got excessively humid in the bathroom, and there wasn't a way to dispel the humidity. Maybe there wasn't a bathroom exhaust fan? I just remember discussing how the building code must be so different from where we live. The room was dark due to these plants around the porch with humongous leaves. These plants blocked all light. That probably would be remedied by having an upper level room. Or even a different building. The biggest problem I had at OKW was that the building we were in was at the end of a road. I don't mind having to walk to the bus stop, but on the way, after we passed two buildings, the sidewalk stopped and we had to walk with our small child in the road to get to the bus stop. That was dangerous. I got the impression at the OKW you really can't walk all around the resort because much of it is cut off by the creek and lack of sidewalks. I did like the boat launch, where we rented a paddle boat. The pool by our building was just a plain pool with no features of any kind. Each time we went there, there were no children, and it seemed like we were intruding on the older adults who were quietly wading. We went over to the main feature pool, but it was far. We liked that. We also liked Olivias. I also didn't like that there are no indoor dining options for the quick service restaurant. We had to eat our breakfast outside in the sun at a picnic table. At SSR you can eat outside or inside. Also, one day we arrived late back at the resort and wanted to get something to eat. There was nothing open at the resort. It was 10:30pm, and there wasn't enough time to catch a bus to DTD. At least at SSR, you can walk to DTD.

I'm just curious about what specifically you didn't like about SSR. I am always interested in what draws people to or against certain resorts.
