Why is Sept. UY resale so hard to come by?

We have a September UY and are looking for an AKV resale contract and they are so hard to come by! On the TST there are only 2 I think and neither fit what we are looking for. On the opposite end, December UY is plentyful.....why is that?

It's true that the September UY for AKV is one of the smaller UYs (each resort is different), but it just a matter of luck when someone decides to sell their points. We have a February UY and we had problems finding a contract when we purchased one resale in August/September 2009.

Correction:

December is the most common UY for AKV it accounts for over a third of all of the points declared and used at AKV. So it would seem reasonable that you'll see more December contracts. DH caught my error on this post.

BTW, I got the information about the UY's from my DH, wdrl, who tracks the points at AKV and some of the other DVC resorts.

Good luck and hopefully a contract that looks good will pop up soon.

Hmm that is interesting. I is kind of strange that is varies even from resort to resort.

I found a contract that is impressive to me, but it is through Fidelity and I am not sure I am up for dealing with them. Especially with all the stories I hear about them.

It varies from resort to resort how the points are assigned to a UY. wdrl did an article for the DVC News about how the points are distributed per UY. Even more points have been declared at AKV since he wrote the article.

Part of the reason my DH was studying the UYs and points assigned to the UYs was to figure out how many points are assigned to a UY and to see if the UYs are equal when combining all of the DVC resorts. But he can't get this information for all of the DVC resorts because their websites aren't as user friendly as the Orange County FL website. He hasn't been able to get much information for VGC or Aulani and some of the others give him limited information. So for now he can't figure out why some resorts have more points that are a December UY and other resorts have a higher number of points in February.

By having the UY's spread around the administrative work is spread out, e.g. everyone doesn't call in the same month to bank their points. So it's possible DVD had some pretty good reasons for spreading out the UYs. But as to why one resort has more points in a specific UY, it would be just a guess.

We feel the same way about our use year of October!!
