Why is no one posting?

I'm curious? Why hasn't anyone posted in the last few hours.. Could it be beause all the posts are deleted? I quote the posting guidelines..

"We do not believe in censorship, and open discussions about various issues is encouraged. "

So, why is no one posting?

We ask that everyone conduct himself or herself with respect when speaking to other people. It is okay to disagree, as long as the discussion remains respectful of the feelings of others. Once a discussion begins to step over that line, the post in question will be deleted. In extreme cases, individuals who are not able to conduct themselves as responsible group members will be asked not to return.

I agree the boards seem to be less active the last couple of days!

Maybe theres alot of people enjoying their Florida Vacation.

I'm busy this week getting travellers checks, cleaning out the van for oure long drive, packing (you get the picture).

Leaving on Tuesday for 11 nights! Can you say excited? Please wish good weather on me!

Lately there have been a lot of threads deleted simply for being debates. Whats a message board good for if no debates are allowed? Overall, in the past at least, the moderators on this board have been some of the best anywhere. Lately, however, there have been a lot of posts closed (or deleted) with no warning or reason! Maybe it would be a better idea to ban the people (just temporarily) that are making personal attacks rather than closing the entire thread and ruining it for others. Afterall it seems to be the same people breaking the rules, everytime. Whatever happens I'll still be visiting the boards, just a lot less if things don't get fixed. As of now I've been reading the newsgroups more, as the good threads here get closed without warning do to a few negligent posters.

What's the point in posting if the moderator is locking posts that I want to reply to for no good reason? Who is to say when enough has been debated about one issue? If people on this forum want to debate an issue for 2 days or 2 weeks what is the problem? It is only one post. Those who do not care about the debate can simply skip over it. But hey I'm no message board moderator so what do I know.

I feel like these boards should be used as a place to exchange information and share experiences, not as a forum for people who like to debate.

LORIC, I think you hit the nail on the head. The two most visited & replied-to posts have been locked by this Moderator. The FOTL posts were certainly the most popular, and that subject, to me, is currently the most important issue at US. Because some had issue with what I perceive as a somewhat arrogant information source who shifted gears so many times after "official" US personel consistantly proved his info. to be incorrect, the posts were locked, because we all were'nt fawning all over the guy chanting "were not worthy".

Yes, censorship indeed, must be caught up in the classic 90's "Politically Correct" fad. Hey! the 90's are over! All would be wise to take heed with what Clarence Thomas said during a speech he gave Tuesday at the Conservative Enterprise Institute.

Any how, thats why a lot of the viewers are missing. This board was "hoppin" until the peasants were silenced by the Czar.

Posting to be posting....not here for a debate.
The boards here are for hints/help and info pertaining to Universal, correct? I enjoy the shared experiences. I don't mind reading about someones' personal dislikes, once. After that, you're just a crybaby.

I feel I must speak at this point.

I would say 99.9% of the posts here are fine. It's the 0.1% that really go over the line. Yes, you have freedom of speech, but this board has board rules that you need to follow. These rules are there not to be imposing, but to keep a vibrant and active DIS community alive. What if every post was hateful and disrespectful to everyone? No one would come back, that's for sure!

As for locking posts, the ones I closed really went on without any further clarity or insight. We were really beating a dead horse. That is why it was locked. As for the user who initiated this post (Loric), he went over the line with another post and he was subsequently dealt with.

I think that most people that visit the DIS boards are pleasant people. It's those one or two people that really spoil it for everyone. You can also feel free to discuss any topic, as long as it falls in the board guidelines. After all, you don't write curse words on your resume or job application.

Hey Earl, no fingers here. I do have a habit of speaking my mind. Sometimes good for me / sometimes bad for me. Please take no personal offence from my comments (mostly toung-in-cheek any how). I do appreciate your contributions, especially for what they are paying you here. I do however love a good debate from time to time. Just remember, although you seem to have a respectable batting average on this board, we all strike out from time to time; It's all just part of the game. Thanks for your insights, it will make our trip this year pleasantly organized.

I don't mean to resurrect any bad feelings or anything but I follow just about every thread on this board, even though I don't reply to many, and I have to say the FOTL issue WAS getting out of hand - not because anyone was saying the wrong thing (IMHO) but because the same arguement was being reguritated time and time again without anything new being added.
Nobody should try to judge what a person is like purely through what has been written in a posting, it is VERY difficult to express oneself properly in a few short lines (Hell thats why smilies were invented!).
People read something slightly differently to how it was meant and then the bad-feeling just snowballs bigger and bigger!!!
Everyone should try to read between the lines a bit more and try to understand what the poster is trying to get across rather than think the worst!
It makes me cross to see you lot bickering when face to face you would probably be the best of friends! (Sorry, don't mean to patronising but if you stand back and re-read some of it you'll see what I mean )
Anyway - so how about having a Universal Debate Board where we can all rant and rave to our hearts content! Could be fun!
