Why is my Trend Mico virus protection suddenly blocking - UPDATE - Fixed!

It's blocking all of the "links" within threads here - as well as some of my favorites.. Can't get to my Yahoo page or yahoo email - can't Google anything..:confused3

I opened it up, but can't change any of the settings because the computer came with the virus protection program already installed and I don't have (nor have ever had) my password..:headache:

Here on the DIS, it's also "blocking" all of the ads at the tops and bottoms of the pages..

I tried doing a "restore" and that didn't help.. Can't contact Trend Micro because it's blocking that site as well..

Any suggestions?

Try uninstalling it.

If removing the software doesn't solve the problem most techy reviews I read about it call it an inconsistent anti-virus remover so you may have a virus or malware.

Try downloading malware bytes.

If I uninstall it, what will I put in it's place? Problem is, if I uninstall it and it doesn't solve the problem, I can't "get" online anywhere to get another program..:headache:
 

It's been a while since I had trend. Isn't there a way to change the level? I know with windows you can change the level from low to high. I thought there was one. Is there the possibility that you might have changed the windows one?

As for uninstalling, ours we could uninstall but could never get rid of all of it.

I've treid everything I can possibly change - without having that password - and nothing works.. Even deleted all temp files, cookies, etc. to see if that would make a difference..

Definitely having a love/hate relationship with my computer right now..:headache:
 
can you email still? are you in the admin account?

this is going to be a stretch, trying typing admin in the main and leaving the password blank or try admin and password in the password slot. I'll dig around on the old pc and see what i can come up with.

I can find all kinds of articles on how to go into the registry and deleting a value to uninstall without the password. I don't think you want to do this. I would also try email trend directly, I can find an email for you if you cannot get that. Let me know.

You can retrieve your password using the email address you provided during initial setup. Retrieve your password, right-click the vault icon on the desktop. Click Retrieve Password.

Thank you so much for the phone number!!! I can't get to anything without getting to my email or being able to Google.. I've been fiddling around with this for an hour or so and getting nowhere..

My laptop (Dell) was set up with the anti-virus program in the factory (before I ever received it) and then when I received it here at the lake, the cable guy set it up for internet access and such..

Hopefully someone at this phone number can tell me what to do.. You've been a big help! :goodvibes

UPDATE: You are a lifesaver!!! I called that # and they directed me to another # (because the program was installed by Dell prior to reaching me).. They had me uninstall that program and install the new version.. All of fine now - thanks to YOU!!!!!

I really can't thank you enough.. :)
