why is moonlight magic so hard to get?

I would prefer the yearly holiday parties they used to have at Epcot with a DVC holiday ornament gift .

I also attended an Open House at BLT Top of the World with prizes and a very nice assortment of drinks and appetizers and pastries. I also won a $25 gift
card.

I don’t like all the new DVC lounges that seem to be focused on Sales to get past the door . It is confusing . I did think the Disney Springs was interesting too .
The original DVC lounge at Epcot and the new one at MK Frontierland are refreshing and inviting . But the new one in Epcot Canada is very different and specifically for Sales .I did like the Disney Springs location but it was a hassle to return for appointment time .
I am not interested in buying anymore for many reasons .
I am glad DVC does not use our maintenance for costs.

Moonlight Magic has been impossible for me also . Member since 2001

I think the next Open Regisytation is May 22 .
I have EPIC plans for Helios and EPIC at Universal Studios Orlando
Sorry Disney Vacation Club , I will be busy having Grand Open Day fun
What do you mean? Disney does not use our maintenance for costs? Are you referring to our annual maintenance dues?

I just realized a MM at TL is scheduled for the day we’re leaving WDW! The WDW stay is after the DVC MC!

We’ve been members since 2003, and have been pretty fortunate about getting into MM, or whatever they used to be called.

Here’s our picture from July 2017 event at TL. I remember they were very generous with Mickey Bars!

Looking ahead to the Labor Day Moonlight Magic at Hollywood Studios: as of today, all DVC studio rooms are booked for that night, and 1-bedroom villas are down to 5 resorts. So there will be competition for that night at Hollywood Studios.

I have been pretty shocked by the amount of rooms that are left TBH. I did not expect to see that many this late in the game for MM night

For most timeshare developers, marketing costs are the single biggest expense---more than building the resort in the first place.
I would suggest giving members a numbered priority for the MM events. Members who have attended MM event in the past would get second round registration. Members who have attended more than one MM event in the past 10 years get third round registration. Members who have never been to a MM event should get first round priority registration. This would make it more equitable to all members to have a chance to experience the MM events.

Oh, I don't watch any of them. Life is too short! ;)

Either way, the rules allow a DVC member to bring in extra people. The only way to stop it is to eliminate that---and even then, they will never allow fewer than the capacity of the room.
Yes, I think the rules should be changed to only those who are DVC members and their families - or at the very least must be staying on property in a room booked on points. The vloggers I referred to weren't staying onsite and were clearly just extra tickets given out by someone they knew.
:)

Once MM events are announced is there typically at least one hotel that has availability?

It depends on when they make the announcement. I believe the first couple of events in 2025 were announced within the 7 month booking period. https://www.disboards.com/threads/2025-moonlight-magic.3953475/

The DCA event was on a Monday (Feb 3rd) after a Run Disney weekend event (2025 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend – January 30th through February 2nd, 2025, at Disneyland Resort). So, nothing (DVC-wise) was available when they made the announcement. (My experience: I kept checking and the best I could do was the night of the 4th of Feb at the new DVC DL tower).

Some of the later events in 2025 had availability when they made the announcement. I just checked and (surprisingly) there are still DVC rooms available for the 17 July EPCOT event.

Good to know, i would be one to def plan my trips around this when the time comes and I don't care where I stay as long as I get to experience this it's a big motivator for me to be dvc y, thank you!

Are the rules that you can go to one moonlight magic event per membership? And if so then someone with multiple uy can curtail this rule and go multiple times a year? (Not asking for opinions of this, just facts lol)

It's gonna happen again with DCA. I feel like they do it on purpose. Lets take the hardest to book resorts in all of the portfolio and give them way way under 7 months notice. I am lucky that I have enough points now to have 5 days booked when I only need 1-2 for MM, hoping MM will land 1 of the 5 nights I chose to pre reserve at 11 months. Not all members are fortunate to be able to this and it's real crappy of DVD to do the DCA MM this way.

It's much easier to just think of these as random pixie dust. I know I assumed I would never be there when one was happening.

And yes, I did think about going this July, but...July.

I think you can go to more than one Moonlight Magic event per membership per year. They have been grouping them in batches. I think the DCA event in Feb was grouped with a couple of events at WDW. You could only go to one.
The first registration period required a DVC room reservation. You could only book the event that your reservation encompassed. You could only use the membership tied to the room reservation. (Of course, there was a second registration period which is open to all memberships, but there is just a slight chance a person will be able to get tickets because there are so few slots--except maybe the DCA event).

There is another Moonlight Magic registration coming up on May 15th. They are grouping several events together again. You can only book one in that grouping. Same rules as before.

I don't know if 2 memberships could get more than one MM party per grouping. I think you would have to book 2 rooms (one under each membership). Each room would have to encompass the targeted party dates. But, if you were going to the same party, I think you only need one membership number--though I am a little hazy on how you get that set up with multiple rooms. I believe you can get the total number of occupants in the room for a 2 or 3BR --so you could get more than the maximum of 5 in that case.

I got lucky that HS landed on a holiday weekend! So my husband couldn't say no (less days off work). Rooms are left still but it's 09/01 🥴 Hot and hurricanes. 🥴

Nobody here can take any action with your suggestion. Suggest it to DVC via their feedback forms.
