Okay at looking at all the threads that are here I have noticed that a lot of people are making ADR's for Le Cellier. Why is this palce so popular? Whats so great about it? SHould I try to get an ADR for this place? Is this the palce that is a must do for dinner?

One more question.....is this palce fancy..like you have to dress on the nice side?

Help me understand why this place is so GREAT!

Thanks

I like it for many rwasons, It's quiet, has good food and I have always had good waitstaff. The breadsticks I could make a meal off, the steak is real good and always cooked to perfection. ADR are important, it is near/almost impossible to just walk in. I rally like it there, never do I go to DW without going to Le Cellier :thumbsup2

No you dont have to dress up most ppl have dinner there after spending the day at the parks so they are in shorts and tshirts..Thats something nice about all the park TS..Now I try and go back to the resort and shower and wear something nicer to some of the other TS at the resorts..

I think because the menu has something sure to please most anyone. Some may wrinkle their nose at this or that if you mention other restaurants like those in the other WS countries. But most will be pleased to eat what is on Le Cellier's menu. More of American staple/comfort food than say what is at Japan, China, Germany, Norway, etc.

I haven't figured it out. DH and I went for my birthday in 2004 and it was no great shakes. The steak was "eh", breadsticks were, well, breadsticks, nothing special. The service wasn't so hot, either. We were really looking forward to this wow experience and got what we'd get at any local chain. BTDT, see no need to do it again.

I think it's one of those things that it gets hyped/buzz and it turns into an "emporer's new clothes" type thing, no one wants to admit that it wasn't as great as they'd expected for fear of getting :furious:

Now, the California Grill on the other hand... :teeth:

See-- different strokes for different folks. We went to CA Grille once and were so disappointed we have yet to return and in no big hurry to do so. :confused3 (Not that Le Cellier is a great restaurant for us. We don't dine there often.)
Just good that we all don't like the same places. :thumbsup2

The cheese soup and the breadsticks do it for me. The rest of the meal is good but those two items are fantastic.

I agree. I am a huge fan of the cheese soup, breadsticks, and I just love their grilled steak burger (at lunch). Yummy! :thumbsup2

I have been there twice for lunch. If you are going to be at WDW when it is very hot, then it is a nice change from the heat. I had the steak sandwich. It was good. The breadsticks are great, too. The best thing about the restaurant is that the food is very basic, which should please those finicky eaters, which we all seem to have. Both times I went, once in the Fall and once around Easter, the place had several empty tables; so it was not a crowded and busy restaurant like some of the others. Though I do not remember, I am sure that my reservations were for late lunch. Now that I read some of your posts, I think I will try the cheese soup. I strongly recommend the steak sandwich for lunch. It is good and there is plenty to eat; AND only around twelve bucks, compared to nearly thirty bucks for some of the steaks at dinner. If, however, I was on the dining plan, I would go for the big steak at dinner. Have fun.

For us it is a most have dinner! I could live off the pretzel breadstticks;) I also love thier steaks and service!

We like LeCellier because the food is great. The pretzel bread is awesome. The cheese soup is even better. I can practically make a meal out of those two things. It's nice and dark and cool there which is nice when it's July and your roasting.

We've eaten there more than a dozen times over the years, and have only had one so-so meal. The service is generally great, the cheese soup to die for, and it's good food in a casual atmosphere.

Good food, nice atmosphere, good wine, desserts to die for.

I think that Le Cellier became so popular due to the Disney Dining Plan. It's a 1ts credit. I also agree that it's good comfort food in a nice location. I don't think that it's anything special. It is a good steak house, but not on the scale of national chains like Mortons or Ruth Chris. The atmosphere is nice, but dark. It has gotten overcrowded since it's spike in popularity. Personally, I think that the Yachtsman is much better. Great food, and service in a nicer atmosphere. It's also only a 10 minute walk from Le Cellier. I won't even try to go to Le Cellier until it becomes less crowded.

If your going to Epcot and want a nice dinner, Rose and Crown during fireworks is very enjoyable and moderately priced. Les Chefs is also fascinating, you have good food in a cafe atmosphere where you can people watch as your eating. Marrakesh is different and the belly dancer is entertaininig. All 3 of these give you a better "Experience" than Le Cellier. When your in Le Cellier you could be in any restaurant in any city in any country. Nothing special.

Ten years ago it was my favorite. But it is no longer. It is extremely popular because of the DIS board and other similar sites. Definitely the in place to dine in Epcot.

Le Cellier is a 'must dine' for us each trip. I could just be happy with the cheese soup & the breadsticks (that is often all I have), but they have a great caesar salad and steaks. It is a nice, cool, relaxing place to enjoy a meal. The kids chocolate 'Moose' is also quite yummy. ;) Like Anne, we have only had 1 so-so meal. We have been there more than I can count~we really enjoy it.

I've been twice (2 years apart) and enjoyed it both times. I wouldn't say it's to die for, but definitely a good meal. Both of the steaks I had were cooked exactly as I wanted them and I enjoy the side items. OTH, I've been to Ruth's Chris more times than I can count and the food was less desirable each time until I decided I was done there. To each their own. Give it a shot, if you like it, great! If not, now you know!
