Why is it Xmas already?

Hi all

Not to be a party pooper, but why is it that there is a proliferation of "Merry Christmas`" across the board:confused3.

As we are not at the end of October yet, does this not smack of wishing time away??

Besides, we all moan about the stores commercialistaion of the Yule season, but by our very actions we then condone it.

Don`t know, just plain old confused here. I know that my Xmas does not start until Mid-December at the earliest, (though I did book for DLP 2 months ago admittedly.) That was more on a whim than to do with Xmas.

Quite a few people here have Christmas or December trips planned so that is why some of us are getting excited about Christmas now. It kind of makes our trip seem closer. Also people organising Christmas type exchanges need the time to get them organised so people have time to buy the items and get them posted before some people taking part leave for their December trip.

im guilty this year :confused3 usually i don't get into xmas till much later but eben im getting organised early !
must be something in the air :)

Sorry Ade, but in the words of Wizzard 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday', I love Christmas especially when the shops get decorated and the music is piped around in October. Unfortunately for my family, I am very organised and I like to start my shopping as soon as the kids go back to school in September. I also have a trip to WDW in December, but that doesn't make me go shopping an earlier - just more excited !!

On these boards we have our Secret Santa and Christmas Card List sorted (which adds to the fun) and we've had a countdown to Christmas since about 14 weeks (sorry that was me too !!).

Hi all

I can see all of your point(s) of view, I am excited about our DLP trip at Xmas, but I don`t get into the Xmas spirit until Xmas Week. Then I get :hyper::hyper: :rotfl:

I also, now I`ve got kids, try to keep a lid on things so that they do not get too overexcited (as if it works!!!!!)

As we used to say, "Whatever floats your boat";)

My only gripe is that 2 months of commercial build up is slightly over-excessive for 1 day, surely?

Just hope the consumer is as smart as last year!!!

Normally I would be moaning like Victor Meldew about the Christmas stuff being in the shops too early etc.
But with a trip to WDW coming up over Christmas it seems to have made us bring all our Christmas planning and shopping forward and get megger organised! We just didn't want to have to start worrying about getting everyones presents just before we are due to fly off to Orlando :)

I blame Mandy ;)

As my baby is due in December...I have to prepare for Christmas early this year :)

Yes Mandy you're our own little christmas elf

I'm thinking of standing for the Grumpy Old Woman party at the next election ;) Here are a few of my resolutions:

1. Ban Hallowe'en trick or treating
2. Restrict fireworks to organised displays only
3. Restrict Christmas decorations, etc. in stores until beginning of December

So, how many votes would I get? LOL! :teeth: :rotfl2:

No, Mandy, of course not - would I do such a thing? ;) But just think how much fun it would be to do all your Elf-ing in three weeks instead of three months! :wizard:
