Why is everyone trying to book Le Cellier

I ate at Le Cellier once. And it was good. But it was about 3 years or so ago. When we ate there, we were on the old Dining Plan- appy, entree, drink and dessert- tip included. (Oh how I miss those days!)

So anyway, the food was fantastic. Like the previous poster said, it ain't Morton's or anything, but it was really good. And for 1 credit, it was a steal.

A lot of people, we included; came on this forum and raved about the meal. And the ressies filled up. And now it's so hard to get into that soon, rappers are going to write songs about it.

Now, it's good, but it's also the accomplishment of walking in and sitting down to get served.

We've never ate there but I think part of the reason everybody wants it is because of the great reports you hear. And maybe even some on the draw is the toughness of getting a seat!

We go to WDW in December & like everybody LeCellier was tops on our list to try. We love steak & wanted TS w/ only 1 credit. I finally got a lunch time after trying daily online for a month. Looking forward to trying their eats!

Yes, and their menu prices are pretty high for what you get. So the DDPers who are out to "maximize" the value of the plan want to go here too.

I think it's also because Le Cellier is the only meat-and-potatoes place in Epcot. So many picky eaters out there, not interested in the other cuisines offered in World Showcase, and this is a place where they can find more familiar food.

I have to agree with this too.

And I do honestly have to say that it is pretty good for a theme park restaurant. Nothing exceptional, but pretty good.

But oh my how they cram you in there! You're almost as close to the other guests as at the Biergarten!

I agree with the poster who said it wouldn't be such a big deal if the restaurant wasn't so small -- that makes it harder to book -- it almost seems like getting a reservation there is like a status thing.

I bought the hype for a while and while Le Cellier is good -- I don't LOVE it like many others seem to. Many other DDP restaurants have a steak option on the menu and I'm pretty sure there are still at least 1 or 2 others that offer filet. The "ambiance" also doesn't do anything for me. I get that its supposed to be a cellar, but that theming is a little boring to me. Oh well, easier for me to avoid the hassle of getting a reservation!

i have been wondering this myself. i don't have much interest in Le Cellier at all, it just doesn't sound all that great. there are so many other places i'd prefer: Flying Fish and Cali Grill off the top of my head!

The food was ok--nothing great about the steak and I thought the highly touted "Cheese soup" was a sodium nightmare. The environment is cramped and not particularly inviting and you're sitting ever so close to the next table. Oh and service was stinky!! Gee, other than that, I LOVED it

Have to agree! Also everyone on the DDP is also trying to get the biggest bang for the buck instead of just ordering what they would enjoy. I guess this is why I am so anti DDP, so many of dining reviews talk about food ordered price to cost of DDP. They never factor in that a family of 4 would probably not order 4 desserts at a restaurant back home. I don't deprive my family but we eat out at home and it isn't some big deal to just order by price and quantity. If we all ordered what we wanted without all the excessive food we come out ahead.

Personally, I really enjoy the cool, dark atmosphere, especially after a day out in the hot sun. And I must be the only person who doesn't think the tables are too close together - almost every restaurant in our hometown is like that. I also think the servers are some of the friendliest in all of Disney. Oh yeah, I do like the food as well. I've had steaks at several other restaurants at Disney, including Captain's Grille, Kona Cafe & Yachtsman. The filet at Le Cellier was by far my favorite (I paid OOP at Yachtsman and my steak was awful - just awful.) I will say the prime rib I tried last time at Le Cellier was just ok - good flavor but a little too chewy. I'll stick with the filet from now on.

I love the character meals, the dinner shows, and restaurants with corny themes like Whispering Canyon.

Never been to Le Cellier. We had an ADR for this trip but cancelled it after reading so many mixed reviews about the food. Instead, I opted for Marrakesh with music and belly dancing.

There are plenty of steak houses where we live. At Disney, I'm looking for something different and fun. We ate at Teppan Edo last year, but no different than any other Japanese place with all the grill tricks at home. Even Coral Reef sounds boring - we have an museum like aquarium in our home town.

All depends on what you want, I guess.....
