We just moved into this neighborhood a little over a year ago, and since we've moved here everyone has been selling their house and moving out. First it was the people to the left of us, then directly across from us, then to the left of the people across from us, then two doors down from the house directly across from us (there's only one family that lives across from us that was there when we got here and that's only because they moved in slightly before us) and now the people to the right of us are selling thier house and the house next to that one is for sale too. Its insane! Makes me wonder if there's something going on that I don't know about???

How old is your neighborhood? Are the houses smaller or large?

The average time for people to own a home is 5 years so neighborhoods about that age sometimes will see lots of moves.

Also with interest rates so low people are upgrading their homes. Especially if you live in an area with smaller homes this is pretty common.

Well, if you are friendly with a neighbor (or two ) that is left, it might be something worth bringing up (somehow) in the next conversation. Maybe something like, "There sure have been a lot of homes going up for sale in the neighborhood. I wonder why?"
Wouldn't hurt!

Well, the problem is I really don't know any of these people because they're all pretty much new. The houses around here are kinda small so I guess people probably are trying to get bigger houses elsewhere. We were planning on moving after I finish school and get a good paying job and pay off my student loans...that'll probably take quite a few years.

I was thinking, Janette probably hit the nail on the head. Interest rates are down, people are taking advantage of it in droves. That's probably all it is. Hard to say.

There's always houses for sale here also. One was a lady that worked at the hospital I did. They had a home built a couple towns north of here and left. Others? I have no clue. I have no clue who most of my neighbors are. I've been here 6 years now. I have to admit that I am tempted to move closer to the college and DS's school, but I still LOVE my home!

has to have something to do with it! And the interest rates so low. The prices of houses are insane, so like Vacationeer said, it's hard not to sell. We sold our Condo after 6 years, it sold for double what we paid for it.

For some strange reason, this house keeps turning over on our block:rolleyes:

Dude! That's kinda creepy looking...I'd be afraid to even live near that house!

Of the four houses that have sold near me since I moved here last year, three were to move further out to a McMansion for roughly the same price. These folks made a mint on their houses, and are buying brand new, 3,000+ sf houses.

Of course, the quesiton is, are they good people moving in???

I think it depends on the neighborhood
first house went up 2 1/2 yrs ago
there has never been a resale yet/none have ever been for sale
