Why is Contemporary book solid Oct.19 and 20th?

Was just wondering if anyone knows why the Contemporary is booked solid for Oct.19 and Oct.20th? Is there some type of convention or event going on? There are plenty of rooms for the 21st-26th. We went ahead and booked for the 21-26, but would really like to add the 19th and 20th if it would come open! I've checked almost every single day and nothing! Is the online system pretty accurate? If it shows no rooms, then there aren't any? Or if I called, would they tell me that there are rooms available possibly? Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

I saw on another thread that there is some big pro golf thing that goes on in October. Not sure when it is exactly, but that may be why its booked up.

I think there is a golf event around that time also maybe some of the MNSSHP dates. Plus there are less rooms there now so book up wicked quick.

I would say it has something to do with a convention taking up a lot of the rooms. The PGA Tour Golf tournament is taking place from November 3 - 8, so you know that is not the reason for it being sold out. However since October is a long time from now if you keep checking for a room something will come become available.

AMERICAN SOCIETY OF ANESTHESIOLOGISTS will be in town that sunday thru Wednesday with 16,000 in attendance. So just add family members to that number.

Definitely call to check availability. I got rooms that way once and discovered that there are different rooms blocked for online and for telephone. Plus people will change dates and cancel as you get closer. but you could also consider staying at the POLY for a couple of days before the Contemporary - or at AKL for the animals. Might be a fun split stay....

October 19th was a 40% offer, so perhaps it has to do with that.
