Why is CBR closing??

Hi,
Does anyone know why the CBR is closing? I thought it was refurbished last year right before we went in October? Is it going to reopen? If so, when? We really loved it and want to go again next year. We'll be staying at the ASMu this time due to the closing but really wanted the CBR. What's the scoop? - Nancy

Gee, Nancy,,, where have you been? You missed the uproar when we found out the CBR was closing 9/8 for rehab. It will be closed until the beginning of December. They're repairing the restaurant area and the pools and figured it would be easier to close the entire resort than to put guests through the noise, dirt, etc. and for general safety reasons.

Most of us were moved to either CSR or AKL or the Poly. But in the end, I believe we all fared well. There are still a few threads dedicated to the CBR closing.

Wow, guess I missed that whole thing! Didn't even know until we called to book the CBR for October. Yikes!! Glad to hear they will be open again in December. We really, really enjoyed our stay there last year. Thanks for the info - Nancy

You're very welcome. Yeah it was getting a little nasty on the boards for a while when we learned the CBR was closing. I don't think Disney was broadcasting they've closed it for rehab. I saw it here on the DisBoards and called my travel agent... who thought I was crazy and told me "Don't believe anything you read on the Internet".... I insisted he call WDW and find out what was going on, he called me back, and said "You're right! the CM didn't see anything about it at first then when she looked into it further saw that they were closing for about 3 months". They had a special team calling people in the order of their reservations...As ours are in November, I didn't expect a call for quite awhile.

THEN I read again here on the DisBoards that a lot of people were being offered the AKL or Poly, so I called my agent again and told him to get the Poly for $20 more a night... I didn't want the AKL, it didn't really interest me... (although I have never seen it, but will check it out when I'm there)... And WAALAA! We were offered the Poly, so we GRABBED IT..

We've never stayed on site before, I am SO looking forward to staying at the Poly for the first time ever. I've always just gone by it on the monorail and can't believe that we're actually going to be staying there for Thanksgiving!

Actually, CBR won't be reopening until the end of December... sorry
